Just finished firing it off the bench. 1/4" groups right off the bat at 20 yds. Windage is spot on. Elevation is bottomed out & Shooting 3/4" to 1'' above zero with 5 pumps. Is this the norm?

It could be.

What/whos pellets are you shooting?

Try moving the target to 25 or 30 yards.

I am only a week ahead so others here will know better than I... but mine seems to group a bit better the the heavier Benjamin cylindrical pellets.
At that yardage they might help put it in the elevation your sight needs.

I'm shooting JSB's 13.73g. What is a little worrisome is it's been my experience these are just beginning to ascend at 20 yds. I'll set the target at 30 yds tomorrow & see what happens.

At this point I am only curious because I do not intend to hunt with this one...sorry to say. The others we purchase will be used for that and I intend to have those scoped. So again, I pose this question only out of curiosity. It could also be that these are not intended for close range shooting...just a guess.

that is the elevation screw and the possible reason that you are still shooting high with it "bottomed out"

loosen that screw all the way or take it out, then lower your sight as far as it will go.

with your peep all the way lowered, then screw the screw in until it just makes contact. then when you loosen the screw on the side of the sight a little bit, turning that tiny top screw will slowly raise the sight in elevation in a more controlled fashion than you can do it by hand.

and no, its not normal for the gun to still shoot high with the peep all the way lowered. I have the williams sight on three sheridans and three benjamins and they are all able to adjust perfectly for elevation and windage.

again, loosen up that top screw and then you may be able to lower your peep enough to get on target.

sorry for the multiple posts, but I just went back and looked at your pictures 8 and 9 and your peep is definitely not lowered all the way down.

you should be able to lower that thing down until it rests on top of the receiver. you have lots of space between the sight and the receiver.

hmmm, unless of course, those pictures are from before you adjusted the sight, which is probable now that I think about it.

There's a full 1/8" to the top of the receiver.

My '68 Silver W/Factory Williams pales compared to your new baby but mine is in great shape. Yours looks like new. Whats the month date on her? My '68 is a D, so April. My '69 Blue Streak is a C, so March. Have fun and like someone else stated, keep a few pumps in her uncocked and she will last a long time.

If you look at the 9th pic, click on the jpg, you can expand the image & see the date. It is May of 1969. Like yours, it is stamped backwards with E=May. Thanx for asking, & thanks for the complement.

She's a beauty. Technically, loosen side screw that tightens the elevation slide. Then use top screw to adjust height, it's like a fine adjustment screw. After, getting perfect tighten side screw. Dunzo.
Something I noticed on your Dan. Surprised no body else saw it. It's a flat top breech. Which is correct for that year. But, it's literally flat/smooth. Not grooved like all other Dans I've noticed. Maybe I've just never had a smooth flat top breech model before? Billy any info on this?

I see ujays calls out a "smooth flat top" in March of 68, what Rob is talking about is some had lines cut on top. Usually this (or a "checkering") is used to cut down on glare along the line of sight.

Ribbed top receivers are pre-'68. Flat top's began in '68.

My guess is the ribbed top receiver began in '52, the year of the 1st production Blue Streak.
