That's a very, very nice rifle you have there. I got my '67 Blue Streak in near mint condition.

On another note; I've read through several old threads on this gate. Not sure which one but IIRC there was a comment concerning new peep sights & webbing. This one has it as well. Just curious as to why?

As in seeing what appears like a Spider web when looking trough the Peep?
I think it has to do with our eye more than debris in the orifice. It is junk in our ocular fluid perceived as webs in the peep.
Opening the hole a bit, or buying a insert with a larger orifice, would help. I have seen inserts that have a brass ring around the hole that are supposed to help that.
I don't like having the peep so big you cant easily center the front sight. Would rather have a few "webs" than being able to see the world through it.
My old Mini 14 had a peep so big it was almost useless.

Here is my Streak, Marty. First with a set of old Benjamin brass scope mounts and a Simmons 4x32, then with a Sheridan intermount and Leupold 4x28. I found my gun in an antique shop for $85. I replaced the pump cup, pretty certain the rest of the seals are original. It's a hammer.

I looked through the peep late yesterday evening. Just looked through it again at daylight. No webs up close. Shouldered it at normal position & concentrated on sight...webs went away. I think there is a lot to what you've said. It is an incredible sight. Just going to need to train these old eyes. Like it fine just the way it is.

The webs that you are seeing has to do with the drilled parallel hole in the rear sight.

At one time you could buy a set of tapered reamers that you inserted from the front sight side of a National Match rear sight to eliminate said 'spider webs' (I believe it was Brownells that sold them).

Look a a quality open rear sight. The slot gets wider on the front sight side of the leaf.

Very very nice silver streak. She looks like it has never been used. Merit makes an adjustable iris for those sights that works well.

I drill all mine out. I guess you could buy one but, I suppose I could buy already modded guns and forego tinkering. Yeah, I bet that's a ton of fun.
Very nice SS Marty. Don't forget to take it out and shoot it from time to time. They really seem to like that. Store it uncocked with a couple pumps in it. Some thing about taking a 60 - 70 year old gun off the rack that's been hanging there for over a month, cock it and pull the trigger... BANG !! Get's me all warm a fuzzy inside.

Thanx for all the nice comments & advice guys. I really appreciate it… & please do not take this the wrong way, but the first person that even comes close to this Williams with a drill will be shot on site.

Kidding aside (come to think of it I wasn’t kidding) I think Scott nailed it in the beginning. My issues stem from never using a peep. Always a scope guy. In a sense I was looking around the peep instead of through it. If that makes sense. As soon as I concentrated on the front sight & blocked all peripheral vision (outside of the peep) the webs disappeared. It is interesting how the eye & mind work in relation to this type application. I think this is the point Scott was trying to make. It is quite an incredible piece of engineering. I also had to get use to the slight angle within the peep. Seemed out of whack at first, adding to the confusion. In addition, I think it’s just about the perfect diameter. Any larger would be harder to zero. At least for me.
