Hercules 30/35 tuning

Talked to the machinist today, he has finally started on them.
He has been hard pressed for time lately, Tyson has a  put a lot of work on him.

I'm real eager to see how much the valve helps.

I didn't mean to sound so big headed when I said I was one of the 1st people in this gun.
I had help from my brother this time. And I talked to Baxter on the phone......he assured me that hatsan left us room to improve on the gun. And he was right. And after I broke down my brother's 30cal Hercules I was able to make my mind up and buy one within the week.

If not for my brother and Baxter I would not have even bought this gun in 35 cal yet. I would have waited for some one else to go into it 1st.



If you have this gun in 30 or smaller there is no point into turning it up.
All you need to do is block off the extra holes in valve and leave 1 hole straight up into the port opening.

If anything the factory setting 30 could use a power down or a heavy slug.

I haven't posted anything useful since I posted air tank thread size.

I'm going to let this info out. (In hint form till I can prove it)

I'm having a 30 cal size pellet probe made for my 35 cal.
I'll buy a 30 cal clip or two.

Replacement barrels should be out in 2-3 months hatsan said

Just figured out he made the valve rod/seal out of steel. Needs to be stainless.
Other than that seems like he did a great job.

Will be putting these to the test soon.
 
Need to find some carbon fiber tanks soon.

Got my 35 cal together tonight.
Tanks held air, everything looks good.

I did fire one shot, gun seems to kick more!
Had a mod done so I could drop a Benjamin nosler ballistic tip 145 gr in the top and hand load it. Clip still works fine for jsb pellet.

Might be a beast, I'll chrono soon.

195 fpe with noslers
Hammer spring is all the way backed off.

Got the jsb up to 174.9 fpe
Forgot the noslers today but they should be breaking 200fpe now.

Jsb at 167fpe was close to 200 fpe with noslers.

I forgot yesterday the highest I got with jsb was 950fps so that's less than 167 fpe. Yesterday day I got 195fpe with nosler.   Today's 980+ with jsb would definitely put the noslers over 200fpe.

Shots count basically is -10 fps each shot that is shot with jsb 81gr
5 shots = 50 es.

I need to do some more work,  did not have to turn hammer spring much at all.


Anyone know a good read about the workings of hammer/valve and springs?

Well it's beyond my interest level to farther look into this.

That ES is not good, you should get at the min 10 shots within a 5fps ES for it to be worth anything, that 10fps each shot is going to kill accuracy.

You are completely correct Baxter.

This gun has been like this before I ever touched it.
I was so hoping that the new valve would do the trick but what I seen on the chrono says the valve didn't change anything other than giving me a few extra fps.

I'm kinda at a loss for my next step.
The 30cal Hercules my brother has does not have this problem. Didn't have it stock.
So far his gun in a 30cal is a better gun.

My 1st two shots are close in fps before the amazing 10fps es kicks in. So for now I have two amazing shots with the noslers.

Baxter I can't wait till you get your 35 cal in.........I could use some help.

I'm not 100% sure but I think I got a refurb.
Block had a big R marked on it with a white marker, two of the rear bolts were loose (2 of 3)
And one of the 2 bolts that hold front block on was loose too.

Missing o-rings that my brother got with his gun.
Had shavings in the front bottle (was from factory)

Saying that....no mod's or changes were done. Unless spring (that I can't tell)

If the gun was returned it might have been one clip doesn't line up and let pellets in barrel correctly.

That ES is not good, you should get at the min 10 shots within a 5fps ES for it to be worth anything, that 10fps each shot is going to kill accuracy.

At 200 fpe power level? That would be interesting to see.

Can you show us a complete string with pressures? It would help with knowing why your going through so much air and such an ES. To me it sounds like your at wide open throttle with the first shot being the fastest.
Is there an anti bounce device like on the BT65 or AT44 ?

This gun is completely new from the bt65 platform. Nothing is really the same.

Hammer spring keeps pressure on the valve at all times. That's why the valve will open when it gets some under 100 bar and let the air out, this gun does not come with a de gassing tool.

I'll take a complete string and post it soon.

Give me a few days, I have a tree job I need to finish and had a seal blow on valve bank on controll arm of bucket truck's boom. I'm behind on this job now.

Yes, SSS and bigger porting should flatten the curve and give more power at lower psi. Still, I don't think 10 shots within 5 fps at 200 fpe is doable even though it's a bottle gun. 5 shots within 10 fps is more like it and perhaps 20 shots within 30-40 fps.
