That's a nice looking gun.

I have some ideas about the shroud. Oldpro started a post a few weeks ago about making the most quietest 40 fpe 25 cal. That has stuck in my head since.

I don't have a hearing problem, just one neighbor. My gen2 regulated .22 (25fpe) hits a 78db and my sons FDPCP hits 79 DB at 12 FPE. My Trail runs 84db and it barely gets shot anymore due to "me" thinking it's too loud and might bother the neighbors.

Db readings are just on my PC with the windows 8 app.

As a comparison, my sons Buck "red ryder" runs an 80db on the PC app.

One thing at a time. Next is going to be the barrel port, then transfer port sleeve, and then bolt.

Pellets will be here tomorrow. Gotta get some work done today.

And, good news, still at 2000 psi.

My marauder did 76 db on the iphone app. take that for what ever you want. I had to order some parts today from crosman.....

Good to hear some db levels. It's so hard to find some kind of standard with "db" and airguns. It seems like every measuring technique gives different results.

Late to the party but good luck with your new rifle I have one of the original Synthetic .25 Marauders and now in the process of modding to .30 with a Cothran Powerhouse valve and Boyd's TH stock hated the synthetic stock . It just didn't feel right to me

yeah Ive got a stock coming for my marauder but I ordered the tactical one because it isnt that popular. i also order it bare becuase after getting a stock for one of my other guns...boyds leaves a lot to be desired. I just put the order in two days ago so maybe itll be here before next weekend. I went ahead and paid next day air because I hate waiting for anything and i can afford it

I bought mine from Norm he did the inletting and finished it for me it was a close out special and turned out beautiful nice and snug on the action with no wiggle or wobble of the action in the stock

No he is cutting back and no longer does stocks and last I heard he is trying to either liquidate or sell the business but if you reach out to him I'm sure he still has products to sell. He had problems with a neighbor

I've almost finished my RBP (retractable bolt probe) bolt. Just have to add the bolt handle.
The inner probe is pinned and can only move in and out without rotating within the outer bolt. The bolt handle is rotated to the locked position (as per factory bolt) but still allowing the probe to slide with spring tension to return it to the retracted position.

So to load, slide bolt forward as normal until outer bolt is seated and push forward further against inner spring, to seat bullet and then lock down handle. the probe retracts itself.
The bolt handle will be attached to the large end of the probe piece (smaller shaft).

On another note I had to replace some parts on my marauder so i made the call and got the order. I measured the valve and everything is stock. So im not sure what work has to be done to get the fpe but it did shoot 1000fps using 34 grain pellets. Gun is stock.

Added benefits are the probe is not in the airflow when shot is taken. So no restrictions at all.

Measuring the valve won't tell you much. I think most after market valves or modified stock valves are all the same spec. It's the measurements inside the valve and Ports that matter.

is this a gen I or gen II? I see some guys make the OD of the bolt probe smaller which helps them gain about 20-30fps

That looks great. Really, real good - totally impressed. Man, if it works out to be safe, your bolt should be sold to us guys. I am not sure if your cut out to do manufacturing but I am sure there 1 or 2 guys that are.
Very impressive and perfect timing for the Cothran valve.

Since I am getting ant-se, I just finished scalloping my bolt. Boy those bolts are hard. I can't believe the probe measure over .156" in diameter. Way way to big.

Now I know why the +70 fpe didn't come. I couldn't believe how big that probe was.

So,
Since I am almost ready to put a pellet through the gun, I have one thing left. Transfer port sleeve..... I hate those "dang" things. Anyway, I got some .25" diameter aluminum stock and electrical shrink tubing. Gonna try this out. Looks Like .276" diameter with shrink tubing over .25" stock. Sure would be nice if it works out.

Shrink tubing over aluminum sleeve didn't work. Ohh well it was worth a shot.

Finally got everything assembled and pulled a dry fire at 2000 psi and 0HS. Dumped 1000psi in rapid fire

That stinks... Gonna have to work on that tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip on the TP. I would have never of thought that a leak there would have done this. I actually had to try it again " at a higher pressure 2500psi ), just to see if it was the TP like you said or just massive hammer bounce from the spring.

Well, at 2500 psi I got rapid fire.

Had to stop working on the gun in the am to replace struts in nephews car this morning and then got back to work on the gun.

Made another TP sleeve at .276"/.278" in diameter. Real good hard press fit. Too my amazement, that old TP leak fired at 2500 psi actually cocked the hammer. WOW. Unbelievable...

Anyway, the gun had about 2200 psi left and the new press fit TP sleeve. Hit 820 fps with the hammer spring at 0 and the HT flush with hammer. 43 Eujun. 65 fpe at the lowest setting.
This is gonna get interesting this afternoon.

Just charged to 2500/2600 psi.

1 turn on the HS = 858fpe at 70 fpe with 43 Eujin
2 turns on the HS = 968 at 89.5 FPE with 43 Eujin.

Happy ain't the word for this one. Holy moly...
