My 2nd CMP Daisy 853
HooRay, My XS60C arrived today. Took it to my basement 30' "range" to try it out. Glad to report it shoots better than I expected. After 5 warmup (cooldown) shots I shot a 3 round group at a fresh target. Pellets were Crosman UltraMags @ 14.5 gr. The photo shows the result. Original open sights without adjustment. If I could have seen the target clearly I believe it would have been closer to center. Had to wear my 2.0 diopter reading glasses to see the rear sight at all. Small bullseye was only a gray fuzzy spot to my old eyes. Next step is to try a peep sight. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? Action is very stiff so I'll need to run a bunch of rounds through to break it in some.I want to try Gamo Roundballs as pellets still want to nosedive when I load. My near vision is very poor, especially in low light.M.M. reports 630 fps with a 14.5 gr pellet, if I'm deciphering his handwriting correctly. Appears to be a spare CO2 cap enclosed also...Very nice airgun, especially at this low price.

I had lasik eye surgery (about 12 years ago?) and opted to correct for long distance only. As we age our eyes won't focus close up, but I already needed 1.25 reading glasses, now I use stronger 2.25 power. I find I shoot best with most of my guns if I can see the sights even though it makes the target a blur. Some guns I don't use the sites and can hit pretty small targets just point and shoot because of practice. I definitely makes it more of a challenge to shoot when you have to choose what to see sights or target. Peep sights can help but I don't like them.
Congrats on the Xisico Tom!

My refurbished non-QE .25 caliber Galatian arrived today, only it wasn't the non-QE Galatian that I had ordered. It's the QE Galatian with the thumbhole stock! Yep, the one that's on their website for $629.99 I got for $399.99! It even came with the hard case, 2 magazines and all the other accessories and spare o-rings Hatsan typically supplies! It arrived with a full cylinder of air so I loaded up the magazine and sighted it in. It's shooting nice tight groups with the 25.39 grain JSB's and averaging just under 850 fps. Not too shabby! There is one slight ding in the forearm, but it can easily be sanded out when I eventually refinish the stock, which is why I wanted the one with the Turkish Walnut stock to begin with. I only have one complaint... One of the magazines was .22, not .25! Oh well, stuff happens! I'll submit a form through Hatsan's website and see what happens...

Quote from: Back_Roads on June 24, 2019, 07:36:24 PM Just went to Ebay to look at a .20 Sumatra, then saw I won the bid on the break barrel that I bought as a boy and lost it about 10 years ago right after I bought a tin of .22 pellets for it so I now paid 4x more for the replacement shipped, hope it is just as accurate as the one it is replacing Vintage Daisy Model 250 (Scotland variation .22 Cal) Pellet.PS the loss of the original gun , caused me to buy a Beeman dual ca. break barrel to replace it, and wow the Beeman was much more powerful. The rest is history recorded here on the GTA No my stock was just as buggered up so it got a coat of flat black spray paint, and I removed the trigger guard
