Any 48 Vortek shooters here ?

Made a post in the Shop talk gate about two RWS 48 kits Maccari VRT and Vortek

Anyone with the Vortek? Possibly .22?

What kind of power and smoothness did you get? I have never tried a Vortek kit only Maccari.

I have Vortek kits in my 350's and 470. They are worth every penny. There is also a thread on here where a member tune 2 350's one with Maccarri and one with Vortek kit and the vortek kit out performed the Maccarri. Maccarri kits are as smooth but not as powerful as the Vortek kits.  Id go with the Vortek kit with the seal.

I'll have to agree I've had 3 VorTek kitted guns and they perform quite nicely, My HW80 .22cal that I just had done just keeps getting better the more I shoot it so I can't see wht it would be any different in any other gun. I plan to do my 48 and 460mag both 22cal's with these kits as soon as I can get around to it, right now I have a few other gun builds going on so a little at a time!

Use to have my own cut guides & tune but had a work over on it not long ago with one of Toms kits

Thanks Guys! Vortek sounds just perfect in my brothers 48 and I will put the VRT in my 52. I have read many post about the vorteks pick up some FPS along with the smoothness. It makes sence as with they don't have tight fitting guide's. The 48 is shooting around 780's 14g stock so if it picks up some FPS that would be great. My .177 52 is shooting 950's 8.6g lube tuned. I wouldn't want to see that any faster. The VRT kit is written up as factory power. If it shoots 950's that will be good and if it shoots a little slower that will be fine too.

My velocities picked up a little on all 3 and the firing cycle is silky smooth.

177 350 8.4gr JSB 980's. Right at the top of comfort zone but very flat trajectory

177 470 10.2 gr JSB's 890's. 8.4's go super sonic 1 or 2 times for every 10 shots. Anything under 8.4 are supersonic.

22 350 14.66 gr Beeman/H&N 845.

Thanks Onebaddj. I found edmund post with the two 350's test that was a huge help! 980FPS that is close for me too. With 8.4 AA (JSB) pellets I get 960's with stock parts just hone and JM lubes. She is a smooth shooter as is. I think the JM kit will be perfect in my rifle and the Vortek will be awesome in the bigger cal.

s10gto if your brother get the VT kit make sure he gets the seal that gos with it, Tom rates that kit at 860fps with 14.3gr pellets I think.

Yep, have one in my 48 .177 and love it. Cocking is easy, shot cycle is quick, little to no torque (twist). Just a nice piece of hardware.
