Hello all
I'm going to tune my brothers 48 .22. What kit is best in this cal.? I have a .177 so what ever kit is best for the .22 I will put the other one in mine.
We like to shoot some good distances of 70+ yards. Your opinions and or experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks Dustin

You will love the Diana 48 with one of Toms PG2 kits in it
I have an old vintage 1984 48 in.17cal. I have always done my own custom tunes since a young lad
(got the habit from my Dad) But since 7 years ago I had to sell off my old gap bed lathe & vertical mill when I moved to my new place as there just was no room for them.
I needed to tune up my old girl & purchased one of Toms kits
All I can say is they are outstanding. Especially for a drop in kit no fuss no muss deal
I would have to say go for it.

Thanks John I'll keep a watch on that spring. I agree JM springs are great. I have a Sunnen as I am a antique to performance engine builder.
Will be interesting. So far think I'm going with the Vortek in the 48 .22 and the VRT in my 52 .177. Would be more interesting if they were the same cal. Many member have got more FPS with the Vortek. My 52 does 950's stock with H&N FFT so I don't want it any fast then that. The .22 is at 780's so a little more will be fine.
If any member needs a compression tube honed with a sunnen just let me I would be glad to do it for you. No charge just shipping. The least I can do for the info I get here!
Thanks Dustin

Your welcome and I feel the same way about the springs. Its just a spring cheap and easy to replace if needed.
As for the honing. Most people use a flex or ball hone. Problem is they will follow every low and high spot. With the sunnen it is a fixed increment hone that will make the tube perfectly round with the ideal finish. I use this hone alot resizing connecting rods. I can get them within .0001.

Thanks John Offer stands if you ever need it. Adding a little touch to make if different from the next guy is always cool! I'll be sure to let everyone know how the JM VRT and the Vortek kits turn out. I will do a Chrony test before and after too.

Oops, I started a similar thread for my Diana 54 on the German gate a few days ago. Some topic cross over I guess. Good info at both places.
Sorry for any confusion,
Lloyd
