More testing in the putty this afternoon comparing the JSB 15.9 with the Piranha. Shooting 10 of each pellet at 20 yards the results were quite consistent. As expected the JSB pellets penetrated deeper with a bit smaller wound channel, and the Piranhas had a wound channel that I could stick my thumb in easily, but did not penetrate quite as far as the JSB's. The most expanded JSB measured .23 and the most expanded Piranha measured .24. Tomorrow I will move things out to 35 yards and try again.

Do you happen to know at what velocity is your Sumatra shooting these at? And, at what range did you shoot the Piranhas into the clay. The expansion looks pretty good. I'm just curious if the accuracy is any good at a high rate of fps. I'd like to try them in my .22 Rainstorm-I if they work well above 40-45fpe. Or would I have to throttle down my fps?

Looks like to reach the 40-45fpe range, their velocity would have to be in the1120-1190fps range. Probably too fast for descent accuracy. Looks like I'd have to drop down to 950fpe.

My 22 b50 shoots them well at 960s. I like to see some in that configuration around 18 grains. David

I noticed a tin of these at the Wally World and picked up one for $7 (.22). I don't have a chrony but I think these shoot a little faster than the H&N FTT I have been shooting which have a head sized of 5.53, I also noticed these fit slightly looser on the head than the FTT's do so they may be a 5.52 or 5.51 head size. Can anyone verify head size of these.

They seem to be good quality, no deformed skirts in my tin yet and my hands aren't black after handling a few of them.

Did you get .22 or .177 at Walmart?

As posted in another thread:

I've been using them on Jackrabbits with my nitro venom. Most of my shots are in the 50 to 70 yard range and these piranhas stop those jacks.
I used to use the premier domes but if it wasn't a head shot I had to do a lot of walking to finish the job. And the hollow points couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
The piranhas with a vitals shot would kill the jacks in 20 seconds. Pretty much where they fall.
I went back to my walmart and bought the rest of their stock.

Seen these piranhas at wally world a few days ago. Looked kinda gimmicky to me at first, so I just walked on by. After hearing the rave reviews from you all, I might have to grab a couple of tins.

Any idea what the minimum fps/fpe is to get the most from the Piranhas? I'm guessing you'd want at least 800fps for the .22?

I picked up a couple of tins and will experiment with my more powerful/faster fps guns later.

Anyone spotted these in .177 yet? My supply of ultra mags is running low and I would love to try them. Both my .177 guns like the 10.5 grain. I did pick up a tin of them for my .22 trail. It shoots them equally as well as crossman hp.

I was going to buy a tin when I saw them at " The World" , but didn't want to till I read more about them. They should work well in my .22 break barrels, ( Vantage, Optimus), They both push about 800fps. Now if they would drop the price,

Have not seen them in 177 but the 22s do shoot well meaning better than some they have came out with in years past, the price is to high for sure but I do think they are one of the better pellets Crossman has made for years. David

IMHO what Crosman needs to do is drop the hollowpoints and make only Piranhas. OH....and put 500 in the tin for the CPHP price.
