Hey guys I picked up a tin of the Piranha hollow points and they shoot better and hold tighter groups in both of my guns, they are a little pricey and you only get a 450 count, but they fit better than the regular hollow points and if I do my part I can get dime size groups at 25 yards. I am going to go back to wally world and pick up 3 or 4 more tins so I will have plenty when I go to ALS' LOW COUNTRY FUN-SHOOT EVENT.

Just picked up a can in .22 myself. Quality looks good. One or two had excess lead but ohh well. They shoot real nice and like they say they oenenetrate but also mushroom afternoon penetration. All and all I am happy with them. I picked up some Crossman rednflights and have not got to shoot them but they are about 2g heavier and pointed with plastic behind them. We shall find out soon enough. Couldn't help myself and grabbed more Gamo Red Fire .177. Best .177 pellet in all my guns. Couldn't be happierm

Bought a tin of .22 today at Wally World, opened them at home and suprise! Only about 100 pellets in the tin, and half of them were .177!! Sealed package. Better open them before you leave the parking lot. Lol

I just got some 22 cal Piranhas to test in my Hatsan Vortex 95 that comes in today .... YAHOO !!!!!!

I'll be excited to see how they will do as I plan on using this gun as a starling getter and an occasional ground squirrel squashier. Most of my shots are in the 35-45 yard range, so I'm hoping that I can get a fair grouping at that range. I would be happy with a 1 1/2" group at 40 yards, I would like it better but i may be un realistic ... I don't know ?

I'll be using the &^^& scope that comes with the gun and then when my new 3x12 AO comes in, that will go on it !

Well the Hatsan Vortex .22 came in today and the gun is just beautiful, very, very well made and the stock is beautiful - but ... the scope is worse than I even thought it would be, it is pure junk, it is not worth the material it is made out of ! Knew the scope was going to be a throw away, why they have it is beyond me ... Bring the price down $10.00

I will have to wait till my UTG 3x12 AO 30mm scope comes in next week so I can test her out ! In the meantime I purchased the last two tins of .22 Piranha's at Wally World ... I'm waiting for more to arrive ;- )
NOTE:

Had to touch off a few in the back yard with iron sights, she was dieseling and will continue to do for the next 25 rounds or so. This gun is a handful to cock and really not a young kids gun. I can tell this baby with bring down her share of game for sure :- )

Hard to quantify without specialised equipment, but the CPHP and Piranha pellets seem to be of the same hardness alloy by the "finger nail test".

Plus the weight similarity for the same form factor would imply the same alloy.

Piranha's shot into clay:

Shot out my Sumatra into my clay. The power wheel was one full turn.

Shot out of my Disco with a hawged out stock valve Mike at TKO did the work on...RVA dialed in about 9 turns I believe.

Shot real fast and hard, but they seem softer.

Joe, do you know the FPS comparing the Sumatra to your Disco? Seems like a lot more expansion from the Sumatra shot pellet.

Disco was about 785fps...I didn't chrony the Sumatra. I will tonight and let you know. I shot a P-Dawg with one and it did a lot of damage. It's in the Hunting Gate, but I will PM that pic to you.

Impressive! Did some serious damage to the Prairie dog. Like I said before, a definite difference in expansion as shown in your pics between the Disco & Sumatra.

Shot some of these this afternoon out of my Hatsan 125 Vortex averaging about 910 fps and quarter size groups at 35 yards so pretty happy with them. I have also shot them into plumbers putty and at those velocities they do open up some at 20 yards but not too much at 35 yards. I will continue to use them in the Hatsan.

So I did chrony some tonight. Used the Sumatra and Disco.

Disco on left, 2 Sumatra on right:

Disco:

Sumatra with one full turn of pwr wheel---1127-1098-1086...av1103fps/38.63fpe
Disco rva 6 turns in from flush---1050-1037-1018...av1035fps/34fpe

I know I said I would chrony at 40-30-20fpe, just went with the above numbers.
