Dang Reb, sorry to hear your big bore deal fell through. Now we are in the same boat, looking and kicking tires. I'm sure we will both find the shooter we want it's just gona take some time.

Hey Dave, i had a 909 until last fall when i swapped it for an AR6, now, as Gary said, we're kickin tires

But as mentioned, i LIKE kicking tires, i've been studying every design available as well as looking at guns that can be modded.. i really have to say that i enjoy the search for something new as much as actually receiving it or finishing a modified gun. I really think i'm just going to go the simple route and try to find another used J Haley or just go with a korean gun, send it straight to a power tuner and enjoy it till i put my hands on a Rogue.

I don't blame ya on that for sure. I use to have a Dragon Slayer in 50 cal. Got rid of it. Gonna get me like you another Big Boar someday. Those 909's are sure nice rifles. they got one coming out in a 50 cal for this yr. At least that is what I have heard.

I've heard that to but i think(just my opinion

) that the .50 is just to darned slow. I wish they had made a .45 dragonslayer because the gun is beautiful but short of a caliber change, i guess i can't see it. The more and more i look, short of a Rogue, the 909 seems to be the best choice, a 909S this time, modded for just 3 or 4 shots, hopefully north of 300ftlbs. Personally i think it's one of the ugliest guns ever to hit our shores but maybe i'll camo it out to cover some of it up. Buther45's doesn't look so bad.

The only other option is the 201 fire, the 9mm version. It can be modded to 250ftlb's and has the black receiver, which is not as ugly as the silver one on the 909. The 9mm round is quite a bit faster and has a better trajectory but as it's not legal for deer in my state i guess the 909 makes the most sense.

Really, what else is there to choose from? Dragonslayer, Sam yang and semi custom guns. This is why i want that Rogue so bad, it opens up options these other guns don't have, no mods required, just a reprogram

By april we'll hopefully be seeing the new line of imports from Korea, as well as pricing released on the Rogue. We may have some new choices in bigbore this spring as well as know how much saving we would have to do to secure a Rogue. It is going to get more exciting in BB, this is all fairly new technology no matter which gun you buy and this niche in the hobby is getting ready to go mainstream, the next few years are going to be a lot of fun if your into BigBore.

I have a Jack Haley "Jack Hammer" .457! I love it but... I just listed it for sale here on GTA. It's just too much for me here in upstate NY. We can hunt big game with them and I have a .25 Condor and a .25 Hunter Extreme to go after everything else. The gun is great though. You are going to LOVE yours. I'm not sure about the 300g at 830fps but it should be close. I have to air mine to 3800psi in order to get 2 great shots with 515g'ers...these are powerhouses! Enjoy man!

JR, funny thing about your first high school breakup. The woman who gave me my absolute WORST first date of my life has been my wife for the last 12 years. Go figure.
Last time I was up in Charlotte was 1998. I was up there for a Toyota Forklift factory training class.
The roads were ROUGH, but the food was great. I think i put on 5 pounds that week, all of it steak, seafood, ribs, and BBQ. So many baked sweet potatoes. So many. I stayed at the Blacklawn Holiday Inn, which had some pretty good food in the restaurant/cafeteria, BTW.
There was a seafood restaurant up there that had a good Mahi Mahi sandwich. What I'd give for one of those right now.
The Logans/Roadhouse Grill, can't remember which, was good then, too.
In my off time after classes, I hit every gun store in the phone book. Lot's of good window shopping.

I'm not sure where the blacklawn Holiday inn is but i've sure been to the one on wood lawn, might be the one? Yup lots of good eats in charlotte, Especially after the yankees came down and started all the good pizza and italian resturants up. The greeks did (mmm souvlaki!) their thing and of course we're still somewhat of a BBq place. We have alot of diversity here and the food that goes with it. Logans is still a good place and your right, we have some good gun shops, you probably remember Hyatt's gun, it's still there and prospering with the highest prices in town

Well now i've had both Mr. Will Piatt of Korean bigbore tuning fame contact me and i had another surprise email from Reba Haley. Mr. Piatt is an awesome guy, as are all North Carolinians and he said that he can do anything i want done to a Dragon slayer, so that one is a go depending on finding a rifle. The email from Reba was short but sweet, "call me and we'll get you what you want" what more can you ask for than that? So i'm having a good time figuring this all out, calibers and barrel length's etc, I'll call her tomorrow and figure out some details. Like i keep saying, "the hunt for a new gun[or two!] is half the fun!

Awesome, thats what i'm hoping for. I want a very particular gun made.. i'm trying to figure that out now but the more thorough she is the better. I have a feeling that she's going to have Jack build me the PERFECT rifle, and an unsuspecting someone on here is getting ready to build me a custom stock

I'll tell ya'll what once i figure it out but i'm thinking .308 @200-225ftlbs, but with a shorter 24" barrel, maybe even less than that. I won't do a bullpup this time but i will with a 30" or longer tube someday. This will be a carbine though, for an BB anyways with maybe a gamo Socom stock copy out of some pretty wood., That stock is my favorite of all my AG's, and i'd love to have it in a big bore.

One thing is i keep looking at the .457 specs and thinking i should really go .45. I'll talk to Reba and figure it out,

Barrel length and noise ----- I'd like to hear some opinions---

Big power is always loud, and more-so with shorter barrels. I haven't been to any big bore meets, so I am wondering if any of you have noticed any side by side comparisons of loudness levels. Just casual observation, no real tests.

Is barrel length a big factor, or is it just one of many? Air pressure, caliber, brand, tune, etc.

BTW, I live in a wooded rural/suburban setting with 2 acre minimum lot sizes. Somebody in the vicinity squeezed off a couple of high powered rifle shots about dusk last night. Reminded me how our "loud" is pretty low key.

And jeez (sorry to ramble), is anybody else overrun with stink bugs? I'm in my garage and the warm weather has them dive bombing me. Swimming in my coffee cup. I pulled a box out of a cabinet and there were like 50 of them clustered behind it! My shop vac is filling up!

I don't think that a few inches makes any difference in Big Bore noise, at least not noticeble by the casual observer

My Jack Haley .58 Caliber Boomer is finished. I will be sending Jack & Reba my $250 Final payment today via
USPS Priority mail. I am pretty sure I will have the .58 Caliber by the end of next week or by next weekend
at the latest if all goes well with shipping, Etc. I must order some 286 Grain Lead Balls and some 433 Grain
HP Conical Bullets for the .58 Caliber , And for the .50 Caliber DAQ Bandit I will order some 240 Grain HP from
Bob V without delay ( I have been waiting for the .58 to be ready before placing an order with Bob V ) by the
end of this week. I would also like to order some of the 182 Grain Hornady # 6093 Lead Balls in.495 from Wholesale
