Beeman Coated HP's

Since I posted that these were on sale http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,8846.0.html and with details, I thought I'd offer a quick review here.

The Beeman Coated HP's are essentially coated Silver Bear's. They shoot very similarly through my Custom Shop 2400KT and my old Benjy, i.e. Well.

The Pros: They seem to be pretty consistent and rarely deformed. They seem to fit tightly in the gun. They are accurate for me out to 25yds. They hit hard, IF you can put the pellet into bone either before or after it goes through vitals. They're CHEAP.

The Cons: They are a bit hard. There's not much expansion. Related, they tend to pass through more than you'd like for an HP. They are a bit light (not always negative and sometimes a positive). The tin not worthy.

I discuss the lack of deformation in my other post. For me, the cons are modest. Accuracy is more than adequate and I know how to shoot a hot pellet in order to get knock-down power. My groups were an indistinguishable small hole at 10 yds  (i.e. a .22 size hole for all the pellets). at 48' it's just one ragged hole far smaller than a dime. At 74 feet, I get an occasional flyer but that could be me, my gun or a dented pellet. Most of the groups are nickle sized.

If your gun likes them, at $3.99 per plus a 4 tin free, they are a great deal right now and they perform quite well for target and hunting--I've taken over 200 starlings with them in a 7 weeks.

Exactly. Penetration is rarely a problem with birds. Over-penetration is the problem. We need pellets that mushroom out and transfer as much energy to the body of the bird as possible.

the dasiy h-p are almost same also a good pellet to check out both the beeman an dasiy have a tight fit in the breech. k-mart carries both for 3.99 for tin of 500

I found all my .177 guns shoot these very well, and they were accurate out to 50 yards for me. They have a nice hollowpoint/wadcutter design too so they make nice holes. Only con I found was I shot on a humid day and the next day several showed rust on them. That coating must have a high iron content.
