Another dead scope

Well, my Ruger Impact .22 cal just destroyed my Center Point scope. Back to Walmart.

Bobby, if your blowing up Centerpoints, then maybe your Ruger is kicking too hard for that brand .... or model.  You can go back, only to have it happen again if you get the same scope.  Move up a bit, get an inexpensive UTG (Leapers), about $130, and try your luck.  They have great service, and back their products.  Stay out of Wally World ..... you get what you pay for.

Or you could check into a Hawke Sport.  I've had mine a couple of years but the warranty is lifetime.  I hear they really stand behind their products but I honestly don't know - three Hawkes but no problems.

I waiting on a scope from Leopers at this time. One thing they wanted me to check, was the scope centered. It seems that, at least, on these cheaper scopes, if you go pass the 3/4 mark with the turrets you can experience "scope float"'. This is when the  spings are not tight and center jumps on recoil.

Rod, You'll find that all scopes need good spring tension, to hold the erector tube (inside), good and steady.  You're dead on about Optical Centering your scope, and keeping it as close as you can to center,,,with springer air rifles.

I don't think you got what I was referring to.

The poster I quoted (and bolded) was in reference to him saying the Hawke had a lifetime warranty. It appeared as though he was inferring the CP did not, and maybe thinking the OP was returning to walmart to purchase another scope, and not returning it to Walmart under warranty. I don't think Walmart will exchange a scope under the Crosman lifetime warranty.

 The last email I received from Leapers said my replacement scope was in the mail. After waiting on my return scope from Leapers for a week, I sent another email to them to see when I could expect my replacement scope.
Got a call today from Leapers. I was informed my original scope will be shipped back to me today. Seems the email last week was misleading. I was informed that there was nothing wrong with my scope. In an earlier email, I stated I may have jumped the gun by not doing all the test leapers suggested, my shooting buddy corrected me. We had manually optically centered the scope before recentering it. Instead of getting it back now for a weekend of shooting, if it was actually was shipped out today, there is no way it will be in before the weekend.
 At any rate, I have lost confidence in this scope. It may still be an excellent scope for a PCP just not for my hard kicking NP2. Does Hawke may a good hunting scope in the $150.00 range? If so, who is a good dealer?
What would be the best size hunting/target scope for this gun?

Troutwhisper, I'm wanting to give Hawke a shot, but don't want the added weight of lighted crosshairs. Wanting something I can hunt with. Besides good clear magnification, a good field of view is important to me. I don't know what would be better a 3-9x44 or a 4-12x44

A 3-9x44 is a very good choice for hunting with a springer.  I use one.   
The 4-12x44 is another good choice.
All of these scopes need to be as close to "optical center" as they can be, especially with spring/NP powered rifles.   That's why mounting them is so important.  It costs less,(in the long run), than the postage costs to ship them back and forth.  Hawke, Leapers, etc... all offer lifetime warranties for their better scopes...but the shipping still costs you. A compensator mount and sturdy 4 screw rings, is worth the money, to avoid these problems.

What rifle do you have it on?   And what distance are you trying to zero the scope at?
How High or Low is it currently shooting,,,when the scope is optically centered?
I'm here to help, but need a little more info.   If you want to,  answer these questions.

Bullit, you can bet I will follow all of the above recommendations on my new scope.  The one good thing about this 2 1/2 week turn around on my scope, is I had time to do my homework on proper mounting techniques, scope centering and barrel bending. Thanks again, for everyone's help.

I went with the Leapers 4-16x44 30mm. Got it 3 days early from PA. Waiting for a calm day to zero. I'll let ya know how things go. Thanks to all for responses and info.
