Well, I got the new scope out tonight. I rewatched the Leapers videos on mounting and centering, just to make sure I was doing what they recommended. I took the scope to the bathroom mirror to center it. I put it on the lowest power (4x) and cranked the focus to infinity. I placed the scope (with scope cover since it has an angled shade) against the mirror. The windage crosshairs came over just fine, but the elevation crosshairs would not line up. The (shadow) of the elevation crosshairs stay at about the 10 O'clock position in the scope. Any advice, suggestions, or help is appreciated. Thanks.

Use the turret method. I put a piece of tape where it stopped turning, then counted the full revolutions till the end then turned it back 1/2 the total for ea.
With a scope like yours, I couldn't get it flat to the mirror. Just a little angle threw it off.

Well, I received my scope back from Leapers today. Much to my dismay, they put it in a plastic box with a half a sheet of 1/8" foam paper on each in. then closed it and placed it in a second box that was approximately five inches longer than the plastic one with no packing. It was rattling in the box like a pea in a bell. The box was not marked fragile or labeled technical instrument enclosed. God only knows what type of beating it took during shipment. Needless to say I am very disappointed. No paper work, nothing stating was was done.

Making a Vee Block mount, from a cardboard box is easy. Hang (or draw a vertical) a plumb line, and use that. It's easy to center both elevation and windage, by just rotating the scope 90*.

Rod, I was just curious about which scope you have. I have an NP2 also and just ordered a UTG scope.

Bob. I think that Rod has 2 different threads going at the same time now.
I don't know where the other one is,,,but I have responded to both. I will tell you that I have the UTG 3-12x44 Compact SWAT glass etched model, and it has 3 years of good service on a Diana Magnum. I don't shoot is excessively but it has a couple thousand on it. It doesn't take much to kill scopes on these girls.
Failure happens early with ANY of them...no matter if a Hawke, BSA, Nikon, etc...

Oh ok thanks. I just ordered a UTG 3-9x32 Bug Buster. Which I will probably put that on the Fusion which I'm not too worried about. I was looking at the UTG 4-16x50 True Hunter for the NP2. Thanks though.

If you feel that your rifle is a hard shooter...and there have been issues with the NP2 rifles being harsh. You may wanna look at the 3-12x models or the 3-9x Accushot series of scopes. I can tell you that they will hold up much better than the Bugbuster series. They are designed and good choices, for lighter shooting rifles. Not for harsh shooting rifles.

Edit" Good 4 screw mounts are a good investment, if you don't have weaver mount available. More screws is gooder!

Yeah the Bugbuster will be for the Fusion and it shouldn't be a problem I think. If it is it would never hold up on the NP2. I will check those others out thanks.

If you are gonna hunt then a Hi-Mag scope can be a really big pain! in the field. You can actually get better glass quality with lower magnification, in budget,,,and you won't have the Light Entry problems either, while in the field. You won't get extra Magnification for nothing, ya' know. Glass quality is the first to go. G'Luck.

I can attest to the np2 being a hard shooter.
In manual it says to use a drop of Rmcoil in air chamber after so many shots..make sure to use small small small drop.
I put one drop in mine then after 20-25 shots it started kicking really hard, smoke would come out of barrel for 200+ shots, last time I tried to shoot it I tighted down the center point scope and 6-8 shots it had moved scope all the way back. I use a proto torque screw drive to torque scope down. Long story short I took gun back got a new np2 and my old model center point lives still. Had it been a new center point ao scope it would have been toast.
For my pcp's I really like my Optisan viper and love my vx-111 4.5-14x40 leupold.

I use the turret method as well. Along with the V-block for confirmation.

Mirror method didn't work for me either. And I also tried it with a number of scopes. Later learned that the mirror has to be a certain 'type' (or something like that) otherwise doesn't work.

Hey Bobby. I just received my Accushot one piece scope mount and it resolved a similar proplem. Those center point scopes are junk in my opinion. My Benjamin NP xl1500 is hard on scope too! I broke a center point in a few hundred shots. My Benjamin xl1500 even broke a steel scope mount! Even so the gamo special 3-9/40mm that came on my gamo big cat, has held up amazingly well on the Benjamin xl1500. The steel rings broke but scope survived. Now I'm using a one piece mount and stuffed rubber vibration strips between the rifle and the mount. Its my opinion but I wouldn't replace center point with another center point.

What I have found when using the mirror method the crucial thing is to do it in a well lit area. Then it only takes a minute or less.

Well lit with light from all sides. Light from one angle will keep the shadow on one side.

Maybe so, but not made with the same quality in mind. A Cub Cadet made for Home Depot is not near the same quality as one from a factory dealer.

Just an opinion .... call the scope companies you are interested in buying the scope from ... ask them which scope will withstand the recoil from your particular rifle brand and model. Even if you still blow it up, you will have the saved e-mail or reply to expidite your warranty claim.

I am familiar with the NP2, Gamo's and the inexpensive Hatson springers/gas pistons. All of these have ridiculous recoils, and kick like a mule. There may not be a scope made to withstand the harshness of these air rifles. I personally almost blew the eyepiece off a cheap UTG scope .... about $130.00 one. I called them and they said it should withstand the kick of a Gamo Whisper Fusion IGT Night Stalker something or another. They sent me back a brand new scope that I just blew up? I moved on at that point, bought a better rifle, and a real scope. If you plan to stay with the inexpensive high recoil rifles .... and that's fine .... then I suggest you invest another $70 to $100 and put in a Macarri or Vortek kit. You will find a very smooth cycle afterwards, and you can put any scope on it without fear of damage. I even dropped a kit into a Diana 34P, and it passed the pellet on the turret test afterwards. Very smooth cycle, and accurate. Again ... Just sayin ...
