Be real nice to have a separate "CO2" sub-forum within the 'Dark Side' forum to keep the regular CO2 topics separate from the PCP stuff. Some of us have no real interest in PCP. Thanks.

I really only have interest in vintage stuff so any CO2 post I make are likely to over lap the two topics. I guess I'll just have to figure out where I think I'll get more responses and let the chips fall where they may.

Makes no sense to me, lumping CO2 guns with PCPs. They are two entirely different animals.

Folks, this is not my decision but are and is the rules and guidelines of the forum and where to post them. I myself own a 2240 and a QB-78 and do not see them as "Darkside" Air Guns. You may continue to rant and rave but just don't shoot the messenger if you know what I mean, lol.

We have a hard enough time dealing with and reading every single post on the forum as it is; under our designated gates of course. By putting these Air Guns you WILL get more replies and more help from guys/gals that have been there and done that and moved on to HPA or PCP.

First off Matt, I think you and the other Mods do a great job, and I thank you all for doing it. I do not think anyone that responded here was meaning to offend you, but merely suggesting a Co2 sub forum withing the darkside gate. Is there an area or person that we can contact for suggesting such?

Wouldn't be anything here without member input.
All suggestions and ideas appreciated and welcome.
We lumped Co2 and PCP together for a reason, they ain't springers?
Now VINTAGE is a totally different beast all together. And this serves as a great example of just how HARD it is to organize and manage such a broad sport as we have.

We're trying. And will continue to look at improvements!!!!

There are a couple of issues that are not clear to me. Does this apply only to posts about CO2 guns in this gate or does it apply to all gates? If one asks about trigger issues on a Crosman 2240, for example, is it automatically moved to the Darkside, even if it is posted in the Airgun gate instead of the American/US Airguns gate? What if one asks about scope mounting for a QB78 in the European/Asia Airguns gate? In other words, if the post has nothing to do with the CO2 aspects of a CO2 airgun and is otherwise posted in the appropriate gate, will the post be moved to the Darkside. If so, I have to say that I think most such posts will not receive as much attention or as many replies as they would have if left in the original gates.

i understand wanting to have a PCP gate, they deal with a lot of things that the rest of us don't. i understand that some guns can be both co2 and PCP (i consider them PCP convertibles). but i don't understand how a crosman action pistol relates to a FX verminator. why cant the manufacture-level gates handle some of the 12g. co2 action pistol, or vintage co2 stuff?

by this ruling the 1322 and 2240 would always be separated into different gates. hang out around here long enough and you'll find out that they are more than 80% the same gun. many questions are applicable to both.

please, don't shatter the forums into power-plant type (PCP, CO2, pumper, springer) it's shattered enough by continent, then by manufacturer, or vintage, etc....

in my opinion, which maters none, the manufacturer's forums can handle the springer, pumper, and the 12g. co2 stuff. the PCP/CO2 gate is for bulk-fill type guns.

Your suggestion has been seen by ezman604 DAVE the head admin and it will be put into consideration however, I really do not see much coming of it due to it taking another 1 or 2 moderators to step up and take care of the gate. I do not take offense to any of the comments here as they are welcomed opinions that all matter to me. There are so many good points in this thread I cannot even begin to address them all.

I do understand that CO2 IS a different beast than PCP and HPA due to it's sensitivity to temperature, valve control, etc. Believe me it was not my decision to make them all in the same category! I am simply doing what should have been done from the start. Had that been done we would not be having this discussion now.

In the end, it will be up to the admins as to what needs to be done, until then I have to do my job in it's entirety.

If any of this offends you I apologize. And please keep the comments coming, they are more than welcome!!!!

We have a lot of irons in the fire at this time. But we do appreciate the input and will take a look at some possibly reorganization if it helps simplify life....for the members as well as staff. We are about to announce some changes in staff and we are working on several other forum issues that doesn't leave much spare time. Moving gates, creating gates and such also means going through EVERY post to see where it belongs. A daunting task in itself. But like doing an inventory, it takes time and attention but well worth it in the end, when it's done and you can relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

I'm fairly new here, so trying not to offend (I'll try to offend after I've been here longer

But... I would like to just weigh in that I also see this as an odd "rule". Even in the short time I've been on this forum (and I read it off and on for years before registering), it seems to have become more cumbersome and confusing. There are sometimes so many "stickies" that nearly the entire first page of a "gate" is filled with them. And then the "Moved" items may fill up the rest of the page. Figuring out where to post something is a challenge. It's frustrating and has had me wondering if I should look for an easier forum to use for this hobby. (I haven't tried...I like it here.)

To lump CO2 and PCP into the same forum section because neither are springers seems ... just ... senseless. Like putting shotguns in the same section as carbines, because neither are black powder muskets. Huh?

As noted, a 2240 and 1322 have a lot in common, and we should be able to discuss them in the same forum. That's my opinion, thank you for listening.

And of course I too appreciate all the hard work done here. I've been doing internet forums since they were EBB's in the early 1980s, on many topics. I know it's hard work. Thank you! And thank you for listening.

The issues/questions I raised in the post below have not been addressed. I believe they are legitimate concerns and having the answers to those questions may eliminate confusion about where posts should be initially placed. I would really appreciate it if someone would address these questions.

They will be moved (if needed) to the gate that the subject is most appropriate for. As deemed by the staff. That's the best answer I can give. We're not perfect and never will be. We do the best we can. And we spend many hours trying to do the job.
And one post is as readable as another in my opinion. The tab above "Show unread posts since last visit" is how everyone SHOULD view the forum. I think it's the best way to see all new posts. And in this way, no post is overlooked simply because of WHERE it's located. Personally, I'd never come here and go straight to ONE gate and only one gate. You would definitely miss a lot if you did.

Well that's good to hear. It wouldn't make much sense for information on a vintage bulk-fill CO2 air rifle like the Crosman 118 to get lost in the PCP wasteland. Or that gorgeous Giffard we are all lusting over in the Vintage Gate.
