Hatsan's .30 and .357 are out!

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Sam Yang's, look wise,  are not my cup of tea. Agree with many that they look ugly. I have a 909, not Miss universe material but good shooters with the right tune and ammo. I bought the gun with the hopes of finding an aftermarjket stock to replace the the one it comes with. Has anyone been able to find an aftermarket stock kit for the Sam Yang's? I looked but couldn't.

Well Ced, I had one in my person shot it, and still do not like them one bit, but thats just me. Have a large group that I shoot with I have been able to see and hold and shoot if I want, FX Bob cat, Rain Storm, Daystate wolverines, Mrod, I just dont like the wild wild west look even if I was given one I would pass it on. Now if they were to come with another design then I would look into to gun, Dont get me wrong I have heard nothing but good things about them, And I have nothing against the gun but the look. Just not me. I have also stated that I will not buy the Hatsan .0 until I can find a stock for it, I do not like the stock that it comes with, if I can get another Elite stock I can deal with that, but would not mind a custom thumb hole for it.

I was on the fence about the look, then I got my Sumatra.  It really is a beautiful rifle in person.  But I really like the tacticool look.  I would love to see a one with a tactical look.

The Hatsan is shooting with the same power as my FX Boss. I get 870 fps with the light JSB .30 pellets. On the other end of the spectrum, the 50.15 JSB .30 shoot at 840 fps. Very similar to the Hatsan. Main difference is the price and features. The hatsan gets 21 shots in .30 while the Boss gets 45-50. The trigger on the Boss is super sensitive and both stages are fully adjustable which considerably adds to the accuracy of the gun. I don't have any info on the Hatsan's trigger. The main problem with the .30 cal is that I have not been able to find bullets in the correct size.

The main difference is that the Hatsan .30 gets 21 shots off of a 255cc reservoir at 200 bar, while the BOSS .30 gets 45 off of a 500cc reservoir at 250 bar, BOSS is working with more volume at higher pressure & iirc is regulated. When taking all that into account, it would appear the Hatsan might be the better gun from a statistical standpoint.

Only really serious downside I can see for the Hatsan is the length & weight of ammo it can accept, particularly in .357.
It may just accept & shoot .30 cal cast slugs reasonably well, albeit a good deal slower than pellets, but I do believe there would be room still to improve on the power output of the .30 cal. I dare say the power could be bumped up to 95-100 fpe, if one were willing to sacrifice the last mag. All it would take is a 60 grain slug moving at 850-900 fps, & that's doable, since the trhe JSB pellets the data was collected with are roughly 45 grains, so the slug would only need to be only about 15 grains heavier.
 
But no matter how one looks at it, 100 fpe in a .30 cal for 14 shots on 255cc at 200 bar would be a pretty sweet rig
