Mod 34 disaster

Im gonna make it short &to the point. Any comments or questions

I got a new 34 this week,i took it apart soon as i got it out the
Box to do a full inspection & lube tune.
The seal was cut up all around,the spring
Had rough scratches & the ends were
Ground & closed improperly,& the breech
Appears to be improperly machined.
When the barrel is closed it looks like
Its still broke open.
Wow!! Really!!really??
Who ever put this one together,hey, if
You don't know what you are doing just
Ask for help I will show you how to do it.

Wow, what a mess !  By new, do you mean new to you or new from a dealer ?  If a dealer, I'd sure like to know who.

Well, if it was new I think you just trashed your warranty when you should have returned it.

If it was new to you it looks like a major rebuild before you shoot it.

Yup on the seal damage ... poor QC and no tube deburring having seen the same many times 
Spring having a nasty looking surface finish another QC issue with OEM springs from Diana's being pretty lousy these past few years.
Barrel angle it has on a closed breech ... is whats known as droop & again fairly common among  break barrel spring guns.

If this was a NEW IN BOX gun ... you just ATE IT and likely will get ZERO warranty consideration from Umarex 

Best of luck tho ... Hope they will make it right in spite your tinkering

I bought it from midsouth shooters supply, I will never buy
Anything from them again. Ever! This is three lemons from them,
Three strikes ur outta here!(not all pellet guns).

Im not worried bout the warranty im gonna work on
My own stuff.
Luckily i had a real spare spring & seal from ARH.
I put 6 in a corn kernal @ 20yds ,Ill just fix it my self
Im good @ turning chicken poop into chicken salad.

To barrel droop,hey barrels dont droop this much.
I have a utg droop mount & about 25 thous thick of
Electrical tape under the rear scope ring.
If barrels droop that much they need to
Close shop.

Hmmm?  I must of lucked out....for a change. 

My Diana 34 came from Midsouth Shooters about a year ago.  Mine doesn't 'honk' (whatever that means) and is not 'twangy'; and AFAIK, is smooth and probably more accurate than am I.  I'm quite pleased with her so far.   But, what do I know?

My first D-34 was the same way, but spring broken in 2 places (I like a 2 piece pool cue not a 3 piece). $300 later and I had a springer shooting like a PCP @ 50 yards. I regret selling her.

Yeesh...that is unfortunate.

My D34 was very solid from the factory...aside from being really dry. It's straight enough to scope without a droop mount.

I decided to stone in the breech today,looked on the net
And here goes somebody doing what i was gonna do.
So thats what I did,got it dead perfect with only three
Fit ups.
I shoots great,all is well,& my pantys aren't in a knot
Anymore. Now I'm shoot till some lower rings get here.

Great job and those 34's are great guns.  I have no idea or answer why Diana's QC has been going down as of late.  Maybe like most things profit margin catches up with the time it takes to properly do a job.  In time that will begin to hurt them so I hope they pay attention if they read these forums and post.

50yds 7 shots RWS super mag 9.3 gr wadcutter.
5 in a dime &,two flyers from bad hold.
In my book that's darn good for wadcutters!

Sorry you had problems from the get go. Hard to blame Mid south though. They are certainly no Pyramyd and don't offer to pre check your gun, but I have bought an RWS 460 from them and it has been perfect and was packed well and shipped quickly. Thats about all I expect from most retailers. Sad that RWS and their importer don't weed out these poor examples before the rifles get to the retailer.

Now that you have fixed this manufacturing abomination yourself, there is no way to let Umarex/manufacturer know what kind of #%@ they are pushing out the door. In their books this was just another perfectly manufactured rifle that passed their QC with flying colors,  and the customer who bought it is perfectly happy. Somebody at RWS may even get a bonus for fine performance.
