Mount Height for 97K?

Thinking of getting a scope with a 40 objective.  Assuming the front objective clears the barrel or breech will it be difficult to load pellets using the medium height probably BKL mount? I don't have large hands and I'm target shooting, not hunting. I assume a medium mount would be better than a high mount if it clears and I can load it without being frustrated.

Little tough to see in this pic, but my scope covers just about entire loading port and there are no issues loading bro. Mine is 177. Awesome rifle!!!

It depends, bowtie, if you are shooting offhand you want to use high mounts cause it keeps your head upright and if your big old heavy head is not upright it affects your balance.    Otherwise the lower the better.

I will not be shooting offhand but didn't know if BKL medium would allow scope to clear breech/barrel and be able to load pellets. I would like to keep scope as low as practical.

great looking rife!  The mounts look high to me.  What is the objective size of the scope?  From looking at the pic I assume medium height mounts wouldn't work for you?

Scope height is determined by 3 factors.  1/. Cheek piece height - have to be able to see through it.  2/. Objective lens and scope bell diameter- must clear barrel or action. 3/. loading port location in relation to front bell. Of course your facial construction (cheek bone side and location) also is a factor in scope mounting height for comb fit.

A scope that is 12" long or shorter, will allow loading access in front of the scope's bell, and thus can be mounted as low as desired or allowable & meeting the other restrictors, that is.

Daryl what height mounts are you using on your 97 and size of objective and is the scope
AO? For example "scope is X42 with AO and use high mount". I'm not shooting offhand but off bench most of the time.

I would look at the "length" of the scope first, as far as covering the loading port.  Keeping the profile as low as you can will help you in the long run. Most scoperings tell you the distance from the base clamp, to the centerline of them.  You can easily do the math from there, and tell if they'll be tall enough, or not.
