My LGV has developed a spring twang exactly like the video posted by Calmark on the thread titled "my first impressions". I bought it because of that very reason, the sound of silence, no vibration...........NOT! With the 15% return fee AOA nails you with plus return shipping, that will be close to $100 to send it back. Should I send it back and eat the $100, or use the "return fee $$$" and try and find someone willing to tune it?

if you like the rifle tune it! it probably just needs some lube on the spring? from the videos I've seen of guys tearing them down it looks pretty easy to do IMO

get some JM lubes and lube it

Has the accuracy suffered any?

With the way that these rifles are shaking out in the accuracy department, I would say tune it, or have it done for you.

It may be as simple as the rifle has slung all the lube off the spring and it is twanging a bit, a bit of good tar or some guide fitting may dispense with that problem.

I agree with the group. If she's shooting accurately, tune that baby up. Should be a cream puff then!

Thanks for the reply folks. Talked to Umarex, what an unpleasant experience that was! Guy was arrogant, didn't want to address what Umarex website says about silent, vibration free, etc.. This guy said ALL springers have twang! Very reluctantly said send it to us and well have our "gunsmith" look at it, see if there's any twang, if anything can be done. Then to add insult to injury, it'll cost me $$ to pay Umarex to ship it back to me! Honoring a warranty doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary. All that feet dragging with what most reviews say is the best break barrel on the planet

Tune it ... get a custom snug fitting spring guide made & in all likelihood you will have the SOUND OF NEAR SILENCE

After seeing one of the brother's old LGV's I would rather not risk time and $ on a new one. I bet an eager beaver could find a nice old one on the net.

Well, since I've only had it a couple weeks I decided to send it to Umarex and see what/if they do anything. If they say it's fine, then I will have to decide whether to sell it or sink another $$$? to have someone tune it. Will keep you folks "in the loop".

People are expecting a "tuned" gun from the box. While it has bearings it will not have a fitted guide. Tight guides reduce twang and speed. Speed sells. First reviews were from the UK which has a 12 fpe limit. Push the fpe up and you get twang.
As long as it shoots, I doubt Umarex will do anything. Waste of money paying for shipping to and from Umarex.

In the review by Jock Elliott in Airgun Hobbyist, Jock mentions that his contact at Umarex said they designed it so the spring wouldn't twang. How's the recoil in your experience? Trigger pull? Does the break barrel action line up as advertised?
Did they take the same design as the old LGV but replaced some of the metal parts with synthetics?

Sorry of your misfortune! As has been noted already. All the gun needs is a lube and guide work even by design the twang is free from the factory. Even the TX suffered twang. New tight guide and delrin top hat and factory spring, twang free.
Hate to see it go back. They will only do factory replacement of parts and factory specs. No tune, no special work, all at your expense. Free twang again. Jmo
