Thanks you all that have contacted me about this and I will be in contact soon. Crosman has been fined thousands and thousands of dollars by OSHA. Type of violations: Serious. Inspection# 312374515: 29CFR 1920.95(C)(1) - excessive decibels exposure 4/1/2010; 1920.134(c)(1) - inadequate respiratory program 4/1/2010; 1920.147(c)(4)(ii) - control of hazardous energy 3/8/2010; 1920.1025(h)(1) - violation of accumulations of lead 4/1/2010.

These SERIOUS VIOLATIONS occurred in the pellet packing area where Crosman employees are all Wayne ARC mentally handicap employees. My suite alleges that Crosman knew of these problems and did nothing about it. It is wrong to knowingly abuse people, let alone the mentally handicap. Following this elsewhere, it looks as if the total fines to date are less than $2000.  Just someone trying to drum up business.  Maybe if he gets this law "suite" he can buy himself a good pc "suite" with a spell-checker/thesaurus in it.

It is bad enough to have such thing's done to a person who is capable of telling you to stick it an walk away,but to place a person of with mental handicap's, who are just happy to have work, in such a work place is far below what we as American should except from a major corp.,In just my humble opinion ARC should also be named in the suit unless they are who brought it to light.

First off, is there a class action suit?  How much are the employees to gain if the OSHA fine currently stands at about $1700?  Lots of potential for a large net settlement?  Large enough to possibly force Crosman to outsource, the employees eventually losing their jobs?  Second, while it does sound terrible, on the face of it and not knowing the particulars, you need to be reasonable.  Why should it be any more outrageous because handicapped people are involved?  The non-handicapped are just as vulnerable to lead poisoning and high decibel levels.  Factor out the sketchiness and sensationalism, add in the low fine and fact that OSHA has stepped in and what remains? 

Are you going to boycott Chinese air guns?  Think THOSE factories are anywhere near the safety levels found at Crosman?

First, except in its soluble, oxidized form, or as a gas (as with smelting), lead is biologically inert and relatively safe to handle.

Second, lead poisoning is a pretty easy medical diagnosis.

Third, I don't know whether or not I support "THIS type" of lawsuit without knowing the facts and circumstances.  Since I don't, and since the previous posts and links are substantially lacking in any hard facts, it is hard to know whether Crosman may be liable for damages, how much those might be, and what the effects will be on pricing of their products.

Finally, there can be little doubt that the agenda of "safer guns and safer bullets", first, I believe articulated by Bill Clinton's laughable excuse for Surgeon General, Jocelyn Elders, should give pause to consider -- safer for whom?  

I suspect that the government has no scruple about making "lead" as notorious a toxin as dioxin and will then follow by taxing it at even higher rates and ultimately, restricting access to ammunition on an environment basis, if not by effectively negating the 2nd Amendment (or both).  It is the same kind of end run the EPA is using on CO2 emissions.  But that's just my opinion.

Either a troll, - or some idiot trying to "stir things up". If some is interested enough, - send Crosman mail, and see what they say. If Crosman does have handicapped people packaging the stuff, - more power to them. That's a great public service, and provides income to folks that wouldn't have it otherwise. It also helps them mentally/emotionally, - to know that they're working". - McDonalds, Burger King and any number of companies do the same. For the most part these individuals benefit greatly by getting out of their "home" - and the extra money is theirs to keep. They'll probably have a "pizza party" with it.

Jay, - I had two very badly handicapped step-children. Thank God companies hire them, it's a common practice that gets almost no attention, and should. They're paid very little actually, and might fold paper hats etc. for some Burger King promotion. That sort of activity, - and stuffing pellets into tin can wouldn't be much different. Your intentions "sound nice", - but a few more "facts" should be known before we decide who'd right & wrong. Crosman isn't taking advantage of anyone, - and fines are not an indication of anything in many cases. By providing employment for these people, Crosman is A-OK in my book.  - This type of action could well cause companies to have second thoughts on hiring these folks, - NOT a good idea.

I am thinking it is a TROLL at work here.  Comon, a public
email account.  rocketmail.com was a public email company
that got swallowed up by Yahoo years ago.  They, at the time,

Cali people, speak up, let everyone know what is going on in
Cali.  Also tell us what the NRA is doing in Cali.  I have read
on some other forums that gun owners in Cali are tired of

Munitions manufacturers, like any for-profit company, would be all for new markets and the opportunity to sell more expensive ammo at a higher profit, particularly if the hand writing is on the wall, I suspect.  Guess I wold be, too, if that were my business, or my gainful employment.  That is a market opportunity.  "Supported by some bullet makers" is hardly the same as driving the environmental agenda to ban lead.  

And certainly, no thinking person wants workers, mentally handicapped or otherwise, to be exposed to a toxic work environment.  But we really don't know all the facts here, do we?

As I think about lead in its soluble forms, I wonder if I expose myself to more danger handling a patch that has been saturated with powder/lead solvent and pushed through the bore of a rifle than from handling the lead bullet or from being around residual "smoke" after firing a lead bullet from a firearm.  Don't know.

This got put to bed on at least one other forum and should here, too.

Anyone who reads the original link will recognize that this person is not a lawyer, and is likely a disgruntled employee chasing an imagined cash cow.

Some alleged facts from public record were brought to light: Crosman had minor OSHA inspection violations and were originally fined a little over $5000, which was reduced to around $1500. This is less than a donut shop might get in a restaurant inspection, and means they have to fix whatever issues there were (probably why fines were reduced).

The fines had NOTHING to do with exploiting handicapped people or whatever else has been read into it. They are standard OSHA inspection gigs. The rest is all in the allegations from the fake pretend "lawyer" who is "leading" a class action suite (sic). Just read what the guy is saying and use your head. This kind of stuff happens to every company worth 6 figures, every week.
