I like it as is, or anodized,... but it might look kind of neat to polish only the center face, and the outer ring/surfaces.
I dunno,... just trying to visualize something different from the norm.

OPEN UP THE FINGER ACCESS HOLES ..... when sittin fiddlin ranging a POI, your hand " Entire hand " is up holding wheel.
Easier you make GRASPING the wheel too rotate, easier it is to get that task done.

Skeleton as this wheel looks ... using it is so non conscious because of it's EASY finger access

I could/would open the holes up if mine were a 6" like that one. I don't have enough room in the spoke area to open it up more. I like the look of that one too!!!

Thanks Norm. No machining experience at all. Maybe if you count using a Dremel, bandsaw and other hand tools.

The best news was I did not need to drill and tap holes for set screws. I applied about 3 wraps of black electrical tape to the knob, trimmed to fit and pressed the wheel on. It's VERY solid and steady. If it wasn't SOLID, I'd definitely drill and tap for set screws.

After bead blasting, it actually LOOKS anodized. My brother-in-law saw it before and I showed him after I walked back from the shop. He said what did they spray it with? And how did it dry that fast. LOL

It's all in the mill. There was a creation inside your old mill just waiting. All I did was turn the power on and let it create.

Here's the first wheel I made.

Then made a second attempt. Made this one a wee bit larger and more holes.

Will experiment more when I get time and refine my technique with the mill.
Bench time is pure therapy!!!
