Hmm, it's a passive infrared sensor so those that report morning/evening sunlight causing false alarms makes sense.  But I'm not sure what about a plane would do that.   

I put mine in an old plastic coffee can to keep it dry and it also shades it from the sunlight.  When it goes off, I trust implicitly that something was there.  That would be such a letdown to keep hearing false alarms, haha!

The alarm transmit the signal from the sensor to the receiver using radio frequency.
Probably the same as some planes use.

I have mine in the coup run under the roof so it's out of the weather. I was unsure of it's range or degree of coverage. So I mounted it at 45 degrees to the feed troth. Should give good view while the troth itself will block the side where the often just travel back and forth.

I'm out just now sitting here waiting on momma. Then we gonna grab some dinner and head home.

I'm anxious to see how well my new snipers nest works out!  Shooting thru the fence will be more difficult because the opening a will be smaller at the angle but should still be ok if I am careful.

I need to make the time to get the data back on my go pro working. That way when the bell goes I can turn on the camera and with luck get the whole shot on video from the "fly on the wall" point of view.

The ding donger is working GREAT!!

Sunday afternoon I installed it. Up till dusk it was ringing like no tomorrow. Hosps and the chickens and maybe rats. Then I had to run out. Came home about Seven ish and turned it back on and NOTHING!! Not one alarm till almost 11 when I turned it off. (Fell asleep with it on  )

Yesterday, I got home turned it on and nothing... Not a peep till the girls went in for the night. Then nothing. A friend dropped by with some paper work and ding dong!! We headed for the back bed room. RAT!! Big one too!! My freshly lubricated windo opened silently. I got the 2200 up and on target and dingo the rats heading for cover. That's ok I'm pretty sure it's just skittish and hasn't seen me. Sure enough two minutes later he is back. Aim squeeze fire! Pellet deflects off the wire and hits him In The front foot! We BOTH see it!! He runs stops shakes his arm and starts licking it. I cannot tell but it's probably a stump. DARN! Missed opportunity. Move ahead to ten thirty... Ding dong... Looks like he is back!! At least same size and color. I'm ready, open window... Position and aim the 2200, loaded with a Kodiak copper clad. Squeeze and I'm rewarded with a deep this of pellet on thorax. His head was obscured with wires of troth and mesh. He jumps but his head is caught by the troth wires. He summer salts over troth behind water and out of my sight. I move to bathroom and he is crawling to corner of the pen and the hole out. Looks like broken back. Just front legs.
I grab gun, reload and head out. I turn corner and there is my ferral cat doing her job with a fresh fat rat. The one I just shot skooting along the fence.

So no pics sorry, but the system is working!!

No ding-dongers (yet), nor night vision (illuminatii... er illumination) ... but possibly thinking of putting up something in the back yard.

Oh, and P.S. I got a good one for you all too! I got my 2nd kill last weekend! I don't want to post the full report until I can get the pic downloaded for your viewing pleasure.. it's a pretty good story too.

I went to the RC airplane field today and there is a old building that is run down. When I drove up I seen 2 big rats run from the front of the building. I need to bait it  go hunting!

OK, guys.. here's the 2nd Kill story!
So, the daughter & wife are in the living room "Hey! There's two more out there on the feeder!" from them, so I head upstairs for my window shot at one of them. Slowly open the door not to try and make too much sound, and slowly edge the AG out the window towards the feeder. Take the safety off, and squeeze one off! Got Him! However, this time he didn't go launching off the feeder and several kicks and helicopter twirls of the tail and one dead rat lays there bleeding on our feeder.
The daughter got to see it and was happy that I got a clean shot to the head (hard to see the head shot in this one)!

So, the rest of the story.. I snap off the picture, then put away the camera. The next day the wife gets out the digital camera to browse through the pictures of our cats, when the first picture that comes up is this picture of the dead rat! HEHE!!!
 

Let's just say she wasn't a happy camper about that and made a few threats about deleting the pic. So, I hurriedly got the picture downloaded to the PC in time to post here for you guys.
More rat hunting later.. because his comrade is out there under the ground cover below!

Thanks guys! Hey on that ding-donger... before you head over to make your shot, is there some sort of 'mute' you can set (or turn it off) so that it doesn't ding-dong while you've got the back window open? Doesnt't that make too much noise?

The piece that you keep near you in the house has a on off hi and lo switch. (Three position)  SO If you feel the need, sure you can turn off.
