Nice shooting, Ron!

I had high hopes for tonight...cool outside, just felt like I would have a visitor. Then a few minutes ago the ding-donger started going crazy. I grabbed the B51 and cocked it and headed outside. There I found the red fox munching away. Not gonna shoot him so I watched as he casually ate until the food was all gone. Then I went back inside.

Must've been good because he showed up again a few minutes later and stayed for another three minutes or so just circling and sniffing where the food used to be!

So just where the heck are the coons and possums?

Since tuning up the rifle a few weeks ago, the only nighttime critter I've had a shot at was a rat. And satisfying though it was, that was over 3 weeks ago!

Same here. I had big hopes but every time I shoot a rat, they stay away for a while.
This rat colony is smarter than the 3 other ones I have gotten rid of.

since you cant be there for every shot,i leave traps with p.b.& grapes.deciding to get up early and see what a fresh morning came up with,usually if im up at this time, its because i haven't been to bed.set for 4:30,get in the shower,outside by five.look at my traps, one is gone,my pond that its next to is thrashed,water all over,plants tossed.then i find raccoon tracks.mad because I choose a shower instead of a cig,missed him by minutes,then I got a big smile on my face, when I realized that there's a racoon running around with a trap attached to him.wonder if its the same one that i shot in the face a few nights ago,one shot,then i had to go get more ammo from the patio,ten seconds later,he stumbled into a no shot zone,if he did make it, he can't chew, smell,see or some combo of the three,now a trap hooked on.wonder how long it takes to die from lead poisoning.

get yourself some sort of bait, and rub it on the floor in the suspected path of the little terrorists.
Ten bring that scent trail out to a semi-covered, semi-sheltered safe shooting zone.
For inside the garage, I'm picturing you'll be shooting towards the floor ? concrete floor ?
(remember to think about the potential/PROBABLE Ricochet)... you don't need to be getting in trouble with dad for hitting his Brand New Ferrari ...hahaha..
I'm thinking you might should be using a 2X8 - 2X10 as a backstop directly behind any bait. or maybe a box or rags or phone books or something !
good baits to try are cheese, or PB, or Hotdog, or Dog food kibble, slice of bread, maybe a empty pellet tin filled with some flat beer, (don't laugh, they not so good it up !)

also a good idea when shooting with potential ricochet,.... safety glasses !

I got bait. These mice are cliche. They love cheese covered in peanut butter. I set some out last night to see if they would come for it. They love it. My dad has been working out in the garage a lot lately so they are pretty chill around humans. I was out there just barely and caught a glimpse of three. Got a shot off, but I got excited and jerked the shot. Phooey. I will be using a metal trap filled with cloth to be a backstop. I have a box with cheese and peanut butter as my bait station. I will snap some pics and hopefully get a mouse tonight. Tonight will be the night I join the ranks of the Brotherhood! Long live i.F.A.R.T. !!!!!!!
