 Yup Richard I agree, you bought my most accurate gun, period. This HW would run with it out to 25 yards maybe, then you'd leave me coughing and choking in your dust. I used the $ from the mrod to get a talon ss, then traded it for this HW. So in a way , you bought me this 97 Richard:-), and I thank you.:-),, if I should ever trade er in i'll give you a call.. J

I mounted a UTG 3-12x44 Accushot SWAT IE model SCP3-U312AOIEW on mine and it has been great!  Used the Diana drooper as well due to barrel droop even on a fixed barrel.  Great scope and UTG (Leapers) in my book are some of the best scopes for the money.

They are lovelly guns. i used to have one myself and once I found the right pellet for it, it was fantastic. Had to sell it in the end, but have just bought a HW77 so will hopefully bring back some memories! (that is once I fit the tuning kit, getting it re-blued and possibly get a new stock for it!!)

I agree mike, that those leapers are one of the best bargains on the market. I usually stay with inexpensive Hawke scopes, although i!ve got a soft spot for the UTG(LEAPERS) tactical series, 4x, 3x9x32 and 3x9x40 non AO factory set for 35y. All GREAT scopes for the money. Gotta say though that i'm really wanting to put a nice scope on here, say 200ish. Thinking about Hawke sf varmint hunter,. Bushnell trophy or vortex diamondback. Couple others would work too.                 Toby, thanks for the post, yup I hate having to ever let one go but we're blessed in this hobby to always have quick buyers if needed and the manufacturers keep making them for us to pick up another one down the road. You may want to look into a Leupold scope. If AO is not a big deal for you they can set it for the yards you want for $10. You can find them for around $200 without AO.

Got a 3-9x33AO on my TX and IMO one of the clearest and well built scopes you can buy. The finish looks great too.

Thats exactly what I did with my HW30, went to the planet optics leupold custom shop and ordered a 2x7x33 gloss/blk rimfire scope factory parallax adjusted to 20 yards. It weighed 11oz and was PERFECT! Under 200 bucks too. Thats just an awesome suggestion and one I will definitely ponder. Thanks! J

No problem! I put a Leupold on my TX for the finish. The Matte does nothing for me on a beautifully blued gun. My HW97K is next.

Geez your right, almost needs to be gloss to match. And yeah, looks matter:-). This all brings back memory of the little HW30, I got the gloss leup, then had a HECK of a time finding gloss rings that would hold on a springer. Ended up with the burris gloss rings with the plastic rings you could spin to center your scope optically. They were called zee rings I think and were equally beautiful as the leupold scope, they held on a springer and they allowed for a factory fresh, optically centered scope to basically be zerod in. They were about 80.00 and may still be the only option for gloss rings that will hold under springer recoil. If anyone knows of others please let me know. Missed a chance at some new/old stock beeman rings recently and hate that, they woulda worked well probably. :->.  J

Tried finding gloss rings myself. Couldn't find any I thought would hold up so I used Two piece Beeman/Sportsmatch. The sportsmatch mount are rock solid. Matte finish but done very well.

If they still make them with the same barrel as my old HW77 then the bore is slightly small leaving clear marks on the head of a Premiere pellet. I think this adds to the accuracy by swaging down pretty much all pellets to the same size.

You're gonna get a crafted german gun and put a leapers on it? See... I think this is the gun that should get a Leupold, Nikon, Sightron... Nice gun, nice scope... ;-)

I'm sure your right yiblon, the barrel is either a tiny bit small or well choked. Thats the only explaination I can come up with as to the rifle shooting ALL the pellets i've tried well. No real uncalled fliers whether its a crosman, jsb, beeman etc. Amazing springer accuracy.   I myself choked when it came to new glass, it wears a hawke 3x9x40 now, ordered a hawke 3x9x50 mildot for it and with the extra$ that woulda bought me a leupold I got a nice webley tempest:-), shoulda at least bought the Nikon AO prostaff... I know I know, I cheaped out. All in all though i'm looking forward to the arrival of my new hawk AND the tempest:->. J
