Is this normal for the safety

Sorry I'm on my phone, the gun can still be fired while the safety is engaged if I adjust the longer aftermarket screws so that the trigger pull is to light or the pull length is to short. The gun is a hatsan mod 125 sniper. Just a few hours ago the pull length was adjusted to short and while the gun was cocked it went off and almost chopped my finger off.the barrel is now bent upwards. I think it is because of the longer trigger screws I put in, and therefore not hatsans fought. Be careful with the longer trigger adjustment screws.
Edit: what saade said, just trying to let you guys know to be careful with the longer trigger screws.

Any gun that has actual trigger adjustment screws can cause the sear to release without pulling the trigger if set to light. I even did this on a Thompson Center Contender pistol some 30 years ago. Luckily I had my thumb still one the hammer and just eased it down. A deer was 20 yards in front of me when this happened and all I could do was watch him walk away, to about 75 yards lol.

I gather you weren't holding the barrel securely, which allowed it to slam shut.   You need to do that always...hang onto that barrel at all times....don't trust that safety, period. This applies to all springers, except for pop-up, or rotary breeches.  Happy to hear it was just a barrel.   Put those stock screws back.

Craymar: I bet you had a pie face look when that happened. Had the same thing happen on the TC but there was no meat shot involved. LOL. TRIGGERS make or brake the shot but when foul play is involved DANGER LUKES (Just like the WOLF). You can not let your guard down. A little goes a long way when tweeking the old trigger.

I guess you learn from your mistakes, I'm just happy the barrels not bent to bad and my finger is still attached to my hand
