Thanks to everyone for all the great information. The rifle arrived today and what a fine looking rifle it is. After the recomended cleaning, I'll be more than a little anxious to get in some serious trigger time.

Spysir hit the nail on the head! The t06 rail is about an inch longer than the to5. Forgot bout that. My 470 is the same way and i had to flip the utg rail around backwards and grind out the stop pin hole a little. Might go with the bkl or hawke set up if you you dont want to mod the stop pin hole.

Like I've seen here before, the bore of this new rifle was anything but clean. After enough patches it appeared to be clean so time for its first trip to the backyard range. After about fifty shots I began to get the hang of the cocking, loading, shooting cycle. I already know I'm going to get along just fine with Mr. 48
I do have a question though, after this shooting session while wiping the gun I noticed some chaffing marks on the chrome section. I suppose it's considered the chamber?? I'm fairly sure these marks were not there before. Any thing to be concerned about?
Thanks, Bob

Post some pics if you can of the scratches. My 470 has a few wear marks on the breech cover that sides in and out of the reciever of the gun. If its getting gouged its a a problem but if its just small lite wear marks i wouldnt worry.

A closer look I can see the wear marks are very light, no gouges or scratches. Possible that it was there all along but I hadn't noticed before cleaning. Actually, I have to get the light just so before this is visible. With a jeweled surface it would be impossible to see. I'll check on how to post pictures....

the only way to correct that is to take the gun apart and polish the receiver tube, the shiny part is called the sliding compression tube, as it pulls into the receiver it gets the scratches because there's probably a burr on the edge of the receiver tube!

Make sense Mark, I'll need to check youtube, etc. to get steps on taking it apart. I feel comfortable doing most everything to firearms but this is a new breed for me. I do appreciate the help from everyone here.

RWS guns are pretty easy to take apart and put back together it can be done with a 36'' bar clamp from the hardware store as long as one end has at least 6'' of travel {a screw out end and an adjustable sliding end}

spysir, thanks for the link. It does have the T-06 trigger. Plans to spend a lot of time shooting is put on hold for a couple of days . Did manage to put a little over 100 pellets through it. Once I look at the link I may better understand the significance of the dummy pins.

Update on the new rifle. Not as much time as I had hoped but have a couple hundered shots now. Although the trigger pull out of the box was not at all bad,. In fact, I put about 175 pellets through the rifle and was fairly happy with it. Generally, I like a light trigger pull, somewhat lighter than how this trigger was. I adjusted the pull more to what I'm use to, 2 lbs. Afterwards I did notice an improvment in groups. With the few shots through the gun so far, I'm happy with the groups. At 30 yards 10 shot groups run between 3/4 to one inch.

Ya ll keep talking about the UTG droop mounts being put on the new 48s and they have the T06 trigger. Did they change it because at PA it says that they won't fit the rifles that have the T06 trigger because the rail is to long. I'm asking because I'm planning on getting one shortly. The UTG is the cheapest but the BLK has more screws, 6 screws to 3 on the UTG. PA is putting the UTG mount with Weaver rings on the 48 Striker which is the only way to go I think because it gives you the scope and mount. It is a good set up but if the mount doesn't fit you have to waist time sending it and the weaver rings back or waiting for replacement. Rickey
