A little premature to jump on "HW quality" based on a "friend in Sweden" from another forum and a post here (let's see, 1st, 2nd and 3rd hand info?).

If it's a new gun, as proported to be in the 2nd hand post, then he can contact Weihrauch and ship it back. Herrman Weihrauch takes emails himself, I'm sure he would want to know and want to make this right.

I have never had workmanship/quality issues with any of my HW guns (or Beeman HW).

This (might) be the second HW new gun quality issue post I have seen in years. Hardly a trend.

Considering the issues AF once had with their safeties, I definitely wouldn't be to quick to jump on HW.
I'd buy an AF if they made a repeater.
Heck, I've heard a lot more complaints about Mrods than I ever have about HW, and it didn't stop me from buying and enjoying my .22 Mrod.
My Mrod must have been one of the "rare"(if you believe everything you read on the goobernet) good ones.
It's .22 and a tackdriver.

I do soldering every work day, professionally! Do my own QC, too. Haven't did any welding or brazing for years. Never ever had anything like that failure get through my work station. Far as I am concerned HW will never be up on the pedestal y'all think it is, they screw up just like all the other manufacturers. Don't own any HW's and most likely never will, don't want any.

ZERO defects for a product is a goal....HW has came close BUT lets be practical absolutes are almost never reached.

What really matters is how they react when one does slip thru!

Do they pull a UMAREX and claim all is good and well when its not!

I would love to hear how the rest of the HW30 tale goes more than about the actual defect found.

I wouldn't throw the baby out with the dishwater...for sure.
Communicaations are of the upmost for a warranty issue with a quality company whom you've invested a nice price with.  I don't see any problems with them working with you.
I saw an earlier post about Dianas,stating that, " I'll bet you could easily find many more defect threads about cheaper rifles such as the Dianas" .   That is  "Sour Grapes" from a customer who bought a bad Diana,,, a low priced 34, (vs 350), series offering.  The higher priced, and "bread & butter", 3 digit Dianas are very nice air rifles that have a proven record.  I had no problems with Umarex, and their workmanship on a 2008. that I had to get a few parts for in 2010.  They informed me to send it in because they wondered about something else.  I sent it to them and they did it for the parts and shipping only. It ended up costing me A Grand total of just the S/I ----24.00. .  No complaints here.

The only POOR quality is the Customer NON Service from UMAREX
It was my sour grapes and when they sent a replacement rifle it was "inspected"

The inspected unit had a loose barrel wieght out of the box there is no way they shot the groups claimed at 10 meters like that.  Set screws were a full turn out from being seated.  Inspected?  I doubt it was ever shot it was the "move the box inspection and test fire"

It was the second in a row that was total JUNK

I have  a T06 34 that has been great since day one....UMAREX knew they had a bunch of JUNK they imported the others and moved them  to retail customers anyway.  I ended up dumping it cheap as parts gun and it was basically new out of box.  Which is what UMAREX should have done with most of those units.

Diana can still build a low cost "two digit" model that works

My interest is in HOW HW reacts to the customer service issue but I think we might never hear that.

Customer Service seems to be where alot of the brands fall down and drop the ball.  Some are not always as honest and helpful when dealing with customer concerns.  The Euro companies could learn alot from Crosman about customer service

Bart, the gun is out of the Netherlands or some such place a bit too far for me to see it.  Everything we are getting is second hand.  It could well be just a flukey bad weld.  It could also be from abuse as in a bad dry firing breaking the weld.  All we have to go on is the story.  Unless this is one in a series of failures then it falls under the "well, these things occasionally do happen" header.  I'm sure there's a Rolex out there that the stem fell out of.  Why it's suddenly the demise of HW quality is a mystery to me.  I, personally, don't want to get back into this vein of arm chair analysis, be it of HW, Diana or Crosman.  It detracts mightily from the forums.  Let's see if more of the story unfolds on this gun but look at it with a jaundiced eye.  We've all heard of the Darwin Awards - those handed out for dumb acts.  I'm almost tempted to institute the Chicken Little Awards for "the sky is falling" breaking air gun news.  As Rodney King said, "Why can't we all just get along and shoot our air guns?"  (Yeah, he did say that.  They just misquoted him.)

I think you've went off the deep end, I never said anything of the sort, where did you come up with that line. What I'm saying is and I'll quote myself again " Hw is no better than any other airgun manufacturer." I was put into my place by someone saying droop was only on RWS  because of poor QC and HW never ever had any QC problems. I started this thread because he was wrong and I'm letting him and everyone else know so.

Actually if I was given a HW for a Christmas present, I would sell it and buy a rimfire or a air rifle of better quality than an HW.

There aren't many springers of higher quality than a Weihrauch. Really.

It is a shame someone had a bad one but it simply doesn't invalidate a century of excellence, and 50 years of air rifle excellence.

It's good that a failure this apparently egregious is getting plenty of exposure, but the notion that HW is not a high quality manufacturer is just wrong.

There's more than one failure, did you actually read the post. Are you saying it wrong for me to have an opinion, honestly, I think your opinion is wrong.  Only one failure in 50 years of manufacturing, not any manufacturer on the planet can make that claim.

I looked at that thread and the other defects appear to be mentioned date over a period of quite a span of YEARS.  The one guy mentions the original Beeman service activity.

get us some feedback from the owner of the recent failure and how HW supported the product....that is what matters CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!!!!
