R.I.P. Killer (Allen Kelley)

My heart is heavy with the news of the passing of our dearest Southern friend, Killer.
Betty Lou and I have always considered him a Brother more than just a friend.
His Sister brought us the news just within the last hour.
As hard as that man's reputation was, I have never known a bigger heart than that man had inside.
Brother.. you will be missed.

If it weren't for him I'm not sure where Betty Lou and I would be in life right now.

Crazy, I just spoke to him a couple days ago and he seemed fine.
Word is he developed a bad cold. The doctor came in and gave him a shot and wanted to transport him to the hospital for some tests. On the way in the ambo he took a really deep breathe and was gone.
Lately we have chosen to speak on the phone instead of visiting because there is so much illness in the nursing home. We didn't want to bring anymore in or take any out. That nursing home has been on lockdown many times during the whole pandemic thing. Not sure if this had anything to do with it and don't know if we ever will know.
Killer had all his arrangements ready in advance.

So many adventures... his Sister suggested that she might like close family and friends stand up and share a story about him at the funeral. I wouldn't even know how to narrow it down to one. Some stories probably shouldn't be shared..

Being the "Jester" I am, when requested to do this, I tell about our fun times.
Breaks up the sadness, true close friends can relate and smile.

Here is a picture of the big man with Boss before he became bedridden.
The guy behind him is Ernie. He was one of the regulars around here and had back to back strokes and was in the next room to Killer in the nursing home. You'll want to imagine this big guy being well over 6'6".

Bill, I never met Killer, and only knew him through your stories.  But that was enough for me to consider Killer a friend.  He will be missed.  Thanks for sharing Killer with so many of us.  Prayers for the big guy.
