Has anyone here replaced the CO2 cartridge seal?

It looks like it may be difficult or require special tools?

They’re pretty easy to work on, but you’ll need a valve tool, to be able to remove the brass nut, that holds the valve in place. Once you get the valve assembly out, you can now knock out the chamber plug, which holds the co2 face seal. Mike Baker sells seal kits and I think he also sells the valve tool. He also can repair these, if you don’t want to tackle the reseal job. Hope that helps some.

It looks different than all of the other CO2 systems, has yours been reliable?

It sealed right up instantly on the 1st try and hasn't given me a hint of trouble since.
Absolute 100% reliability.
My pistol was in 99% like new condition when I received it though.

Good to know. I've no had a lot of CO2 guns, but everything with the seal dependent on resting against the cartridge face always developed leaks after a few cartridges.

I am hoping Sheridan figured out how to keep a good seal in this E20...

I'm not sure if the Crosman made E20 uses the same valve as the Racine E series pistols did.
I know they switched to a cartridge valve for the pneumatics.

What I can see looks about the same, but I can't see inside the valve.

I just looked at your pics there, looks like it was in good shape!

There are two tools I keep seeing popping up,  one with a spanner end (easy to make?) and one with a square end. The e20 seems to need the latter?

If I remember correctly you need the standard Sheridan valve tool, and a tool to remove the cartridge seal retainer.

It is a multi-tool, one end for the valve retaining nut, the other for threading into the valve and pulling it out.  Opposite for reinstalling.  Can use a spent powerlet to drive the intake parts out from the front. 

Main thing about the E is to NOT leave a powerlet in place for any length of time.  The tip of the powerlet will eventually stick to the seal and then won't want to come out.  If you manage to get the old powerlet out, some of the seal may come with it and then the gun leaks from the front end.  A week, even a month is ok, but leaving it in indefinately is a bad idea.

That is how I got my pristine model F rifle so cheap... the old cart was stuck to the red face seal like glue!
 Several days of soaking in oil I was finally able to extract it.

I don't know if it was my Sheridan E, but I know one of my guns came with a cart thoroughly stuck in it.
Maybe it was the 180 eeler1 gave me a great deal on a few years back ?
I know I've had occasional trouble with carts getting a little stuck in it.
I frequently put a drop of oil on the carts, but not every single time because I don't want to over oil my guns.
