Kamakazi showers again all day.  We closed the beach three times and canceled four boat tours.  Two visitors officiously informed me that their phones didn’t show any bad weather approaching.  I wish I could let them watch one “brew up” over Bradwell Bay out of the clear blue sky on my monitor.  Well I don’t think they were quite so sanguine thirty minutes later when one did pop up and soak us.  It was a slow day thanks to the weather and I’m thankful for that.

Relying solely on apps for weather advice (or navigation) is a baaaaad idea. The sources the apps get their interpretations from often contradict each other (I use one that gets info from six different forecasting models, some of which better fit what actually happens here than the others). In addition, in the US the source the forecasting models use themselves is NWS/NOAA, which is undergoing staff cuts like so many other scientific organizations are.

In some spots, the weather monitoring infrastructure simply doesn't exist to pick up signals of incoming bad weather. I live in such an area. One mild winter day with totally clear blue sky and no wind, within a few hours had turned to whiteout snow squalls and biting cold. We had gone to town in the morning and returned in the storm, which came as a complete surprise. It caused two hikers on a canyon nearby to need rescue. NOBODY would have thought the weather would make such a wrenching 180, and NO forecasts had hinted of anything like it.

I live on the gulf coast and our area is very well covered by radars and weather stations courtesy of the US Air Force.  An idiot could predict the weather here by watching the radar.  If it rained in east Texas yesterday its gonna rain here today.  It's just about that easy.

Where I live at the end of one valley and next to another with mountains close by to the North South and East and some a little farther to the West it is a bit more difficult to tell sometimes which way the storms may be split by the mountains. It can pour in town 5 miles away while we don't get a drop or the other way, same thing with the wind it might get crazy in town or out here or both.

We have the same problem here. Hills complicate weather predictions and I've seen some really bad weather predictions on some appts.  Looks like we'll be in the 90s for the next 3 months. It is suppose to be a strong monsoon season this year. That's good as it's been really dry over the last year.

Been getting some early afternoon showers each day then it gets dam humid.

Early summer brings its own kind of capricious weather. Today was mostly unseasonably hot, with thunderheads looming and intermittent gusts. Less than 30 minutes ago a brief, light, sparse shower blew by. No cooling effect. But this was what I saw from the front porch:

There was a faint double rainbow over it that vanished. I have seen a triple rainbow here, the only one I've ever witnessed.

Its finally cooled off here.  Temps are down to the mid seventies but it’s still awful humid.  Setting up a dehumidifier in the tiny house.  After I run it and the air conditioner for a couple of hours  I’m going to get my pump and fill up some PCP’s.

Wondered where I posted that!

Hotter than firebox rivets today.  Not as humid as yesterday but that is only by a matter of degrees.  I’m done working outside for the afternoon.  I’m going to turn on the AC in the shed and work on airguns.
