Hot, hot, hot. Felt like 90 yesterday but it was "only" about 85. I kayaked early enough to avoid the hottest part of the day.

More of the same today. We still need more rain. I don't feel like doing anything outdoors except swimming, for which the water is too cold.

  It fell short of 102°F yesterday just getting to 100°F at my house.

 Today is forecast to get to 96°F with 18% humidity. It is 89.1°F on my back deck in the shade at 10:58 now.

Carolina blue sky used to be a saying here. It won't be long before no one remembers why. It's rained every two to three days a month, the wind has blown contiguously, and when there no clouds the sky is a grey blue color. And not a decently hot day yet!

Awful weather. Clear, sunny, warm.  Weather like this is sure to bring hordes of sun seekers out to the park.

Last night I arranged an old lap top and some surplus power tools on the picnic table as an offering to the rain spirits.  This along with certain other arcane rituals (leaving the car windows down) usually assures a rainstorm.  No joy.  This morning the tools were all dry.  The sky spirits rejected my offering.

The memsahib says they are angry because I offered a sub standard sacrifice.

Smells like wildfire from a blaze a few miles to the east.
Threat of dry lightning strikes from a low pressure moving ashore. That should make for more wildfire smoke/smell.

Our night-blooming Cereus cactus. Its really old, and really large at 15' tall, and probably 20' across.

RAIN!!!🥰 Of course when I got up I let the dogs out and did my morning thing and it started raining hard. Dogs came back in and their feet were really muddy.😡😡
