Steve, I can confirm that it is indeed a #5-40TPI set screw. I can also confirm that it is Bristol. I glad too because an Allen would have stripped out for sure.  The rear sight has two Bristol set screws holding it onto the barrel, and a third for elevation adjustment. I will order some screws, and a Bristol to use as a windage adjustment tool.
I don't know the size of the Bristol, but I will figure it out.

  I am pretty sure that Bristol is .69 . I have bought 5-40 at Ace Hdwr.. Just like I told you how to use a Dremel to make the elevation screw,,, every now & then I get a Sheridan with the side screws made the same way. It is not original,,, but it works.

Please note: the Bristol driver size is .069", but those screws are only for attaching the sight. 
Windage is adjusted by the slotted screws in the loop - loosen the side away from where you want the blade to move, tighten the other side to move it, then re-snug the opposing side to lock your adjustment.

   The Ace Hardware Stores that have the specific labeled gun screw cabinets have 5-40 screws in several lengths but not all Ace stores have the gun screw assortment.  One store here has them and the other two don't.  They were not set screws but I thinned the head down and slotted with a Dremel like that too.

Yeah my local ace doesn't,  but the big ace in the city 35 miles away does.
When that store was Orchard Supply Hardware before that awesome chain went under they had an excellent assortment.
