Quote from: smythsg on September 02, 2023, 08:32:14 AMLooking great Buddy, a nice pair for a days hunt. Season opened Aug 15th in GA and I went opening day. Bugs galore, temp in the 90's, huidity, some rain... Haven't been back again yet, waiting for cooler weather. Another Notos Safari on USACOE land. I spooked a doe at dusk and 10 minutes later a little fawn followed. Looks like a good location for camera two. Once again I could hear treerats and they dropped some chestnut grenades at me. I caught a glimpse of one at sunset about 60' up in a grand old oak. Never got my crosshairs on anything but leaves....patiently waiting for leaves to fall...October will be fun. PM me when the Georgia temps get closer to "fall" and you're ready for another woodswalk sir.

Aug. 15, 2022 and end Jan. 31, 2023. Hunters may only capture five squirrels per day.
The Foxy vanished here as soon as season opened. QuoteAug. 15, 2022 and end Jan. 31, 2023. Hunters may only capture five squirrels per day.
"Would have been good to have a feist."Got a gray a couple days back. Flash treed it and would not leave it. I found the best shot I could. About a 70 degree angle and ten yards range. The squirrel was mostly obscured by foliage but I got a solid vitals shot with a 7.9gr CPHP and it was DRT. Flash was right there when it hit the ground. He gave it a shake and then brought it to me. Flash is no feist but he's grown up to be a pretty decent squirrel dog.
This is Belle. She’s six months old now and a good bit bigger than in this photo. Not really what we wanted but you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. She accompanies the older dogs on our walks around my permission. I have started teaching her basic commands and hand signals. The breeder who gave her to me sadly told me she is gun shy and too timid to make a good gun dog. She has no problem with air guns as far as I can tell and she certainly has good instincts. Nice soft mouth too.My dog training philosophy is a little different from some folks. I start training them young. Flash and Flytrap will do most of the training just as a previous generation taught them. I’ll take her with me a few times this year to break her in but she won’t be worth a darn for a year or two.
