I wandered off to the stand a little after noon today, I was sitting about an hour and a spot a tom turkey 30 yards out in one of my shooting lanes, wish I saw him coming in, but did not and by the time I hit the safety he moved on. Next up Was a squirrel, dropped her DRT, and a buck about two hours later, getting near the time to call it a day. But you know just when one is about to call it quits the action happens, I spot a fawn 50 yards out in the orchard, it heads into the woods leisurely, then a doe pops out from the woods 150 yards up and heads back in 15 minutes later. I check the time, still time to hunt so I stay put as I feel they will follow the creek down and possibly give me a shot. They did pass by at 30 yards, stopped, both with trees blocking any shots,. a total of 3 antlerless, yup I better hold tight as most likely a buck to follow. And just like that as the doe moved ahead there was a nice size buck, no time to count points, 8 perhaps, I gave a bleat but could not get him to stop. Next time I guess , I let them go do their thing and gathered my nutters.
I had an hour or so to kill before the work luncheon, so why not head out to the squirrel woods and kill something with the Barra 250Z I passed on a couple closer range ones , but found this one at 35 DRT or so it looked, just went limp on a log, then 10 seconds later it did a flip straight up and off to the side of the log the photo was taken from. . I hoped to get a longer range opportunity, but time to kill was over before that could happen.

I bet it was momentarily dazzled by the bling which led to it's demise.
Had a nice 3 mile hike today (no tree stand). 1.2 miles in this nutter decided to play why did the squirrel cross the (dirt) road making to some brush on the other side he assumed all was well. Sadly his head was exposed. The CondorSS sent a 27.5gr NSA lobotomy and after a couple of circles of the chicken dance he laid to rest in a gallon zip lock bag to join me on the balance of my hike.
