Snuck out of work at 330 today and got a good 2 mile woodswalk in.  This nutter was ground scurrying at dusk.  Took a H&N 14.66 just behind the ear as he mounted a tree.  Took another body shot about 20 feet up the tree and fell unceremoniously to the ground after a few shakes.  Notos takes the first nutter of the season.

 The crazy workday tapered off nicely, so took a run through the squirrel woods to unwind, a bit late to bother with sitting for deer though they were out there in numbers no time to haul one out, and do the other stuff until Nov when I can run amuck on the farm
 Also heard a couple racoons, but was not able to cross paths or they would of been fair game this late afternoon going on evening.

 Thanks! With the GK1 .22 33.4 gr JSB @45 fpe the center mass shot worked just as good as a lower powered head shot.

Thank you...supposedly the airgun I was gonna leave stock...lol.  With the member provided LDC all that poor nutter heard was the hammer hitting the valve and the pellet hitting the tree after it went through the fuse box.

 I had most of yesterday off of work, I had called my cousin TK to see if he was home to drop off a gallon of cider, next thin I know we are on the road to the orchard I work and hunt at, to do a little scouting, very windy hot 80 degree record breaking day.
 We did a bit of squirrel hunting along the way, and then we saw Mourning doves, I grabbed the Wing Shot and a decoy, never got any decoys out as I got a shot on one while holding the decoy in my left hand while supporting the forestock, and pulling the trigger with the right.
 Later TK got a squirrel in the squirrel woods. Saw no deer or turkey, but not supprised due to the weather conditions, all in all it was a great 6 hour hunt / recon day.

You don't need no stinking decoys!    Nice shooting James!  I wish I could take mourning doves in NY.  They are in my yard every day but unfortunately they are protected.

I was outside throwing a tennis ball for the dogs today when a huge flock of Starlings arrived and perched in the trees around our yard.  The .177 cal Crosman Fire/Prowler hybrid was handy and loaded with 8.4gr H&N FTT.  I took a bead on a starling about 40 yards away and watched bark fly from the branch it perched on as I heard the solid snap of the pellet impacting wood.  The bird flew but there were dozens more and I quickly lined up on another Starling about the same distance away.  I squeezed off the shot and got a glimpse of flying feathers before the bird itself flew.  Two other Starlings I hadn't seen flew from almost the same spot at that instant and I couldn't tell which one I had hit.  I started a spiral search at the base of the tree with two dogs.  We circled out to about 100 yards but never did find a dead Starling.

Pretty sure I got it as the pellet knocked it off the perch.  Just not a DRT shot.
