I met a fishing guide who also squirrel hunts the area I do.  He offered to let me hunt over his beagle this season    hope to post here mid August

What a treat! I am thinking of getting a hunting dog when my current pack passes.

I did a good bit of research and was leaning towards a Feist when I retire in a few years.  I'm just finishing my second adult dependent who should graduate college in May and having second thoughts about being responsible for another living soul.  The idea of paying to hunt over a trained dog appealed to me and this gentleman offered.  If you're already a dog person a squirrel dog would make a great companion....

 Last season I had the opportunity to invite a friend who is addicted to rabbit hunting with beagles, to hunt on the farm I work for. I can see his point Here is a you youtube video that closely depicts that hunt.

Got out of the shower this morning and this was sitting on my guest Room bed, grabbed the Uragan that was sitting on the bed and Blasted it with a Blast of Air, (no pellet Dry fire)
well that did the job..... then sucked it up into the Vacuum cleaner....

 I think I could of used any 20 fpe or better air rifle for that hunt I was on  as the rabbits were held up easily in airgun ranges, matter of fact I took one with my Wing Shot that day.

 Went on another Chipmunk Safari, I got the first one at 25 yards and the 2nd at 30 after nick ran out of ammo trying at about 45 off hand 
 

 That 21 grain H&N slug sure made a loud thwap when it hit the 2nd one in the chest area, tossed him right off his log

 Today was slim pickings hot humid day with wind, seems to keep them less active. Nick did get a shot at one and looked like a good hit, dropped layed there, then it ran in circles, stopped , we thought that was it then it crawled 3 ft to a hole and wiggled down, he left a good blood trail so it wont be long.

You better be prepared to hunt squirrel.

I got my last feist from a fellow in Flowery Branch 20 years ago.  Best squirrel dog I have ever had.  They are high energy dogs that need to be worked or hunted every day.  If not, mine was an escape artist so if you get one be prepared!

Yessir. Got that in all my research about the breed.  Hence the hesitation to "return to parenting"  so soon after joining the empty nester club.  I was expecting to work my hunting buddy everyday...that puts a cramp in 4-7 day get aways....I got six years until retirement to think on that...hmmm.
Since you had the experience any opinions on dropping the $2k for a bread and trained "ready to hunt" versus a rescue Feist and the time investment to train...

 On the way to work I got 2 starlings, and the way home a HOSP, but both with the GMC so do not count, but this tips  me off that the birds are flocking, and I need to pack a rifle that will work well to shoot them flocking birds
