Too Hot to even look for critters, I opened the door and felt like opening the door to Hades....  , I'm going back inside, if critters can stand this heat, then they get a pass...

The Notos has been Christened a pester/hunter as of about an hour ago. Good thing I spent a little bit of time yesterday, figuring out up close shots. The scope is set at 25yd, this chipper was well under 20ft away.

tuned my impact compact .25 to some h&n 28gn slugs today,

at 950fps it was making some good 10 shot groups at 50yds of about 1/2" to 5/8"

so i decided to sight in for them,
and my ears were treated to the glorious clicks of the arken lol

so obviously i had to drive over and setup on the silos at a permission,
i got 47 pigeons and 8 starlings in less than 2 hours.

this guy was right at 50yds,
and could only see his head.

his head does not exist anymore

Well I got another white squirrel today.  After humping the boonies for three solid weeks last winter to score my first white squirrel this one was easy.

I got it from the driver's seat of the memsahib's Honda.  Little sucker did one of those kamikaze moves in the middle of the road.

Street pizza.  Maximum checkout.

I remember when Honda cars first made it to market, my friend's parents hit an Irish setter and totaled the car, Could call it mushroom expansion I'm sure now days the squirrel did little to no damage ;O LOL

Most likely LOL I would of thought they hit a deer rom the looks of it.

I was sitting here at the computer reading posts on GTA when I glanced over at the printer and saw a Huge Wolf Spider sitting on the paper holder extension, sorry I didn't take any pictures, but it surprised me, I thought "That thing is Huge", it was about 2 1/2", I though about blasting it with air from one of the pellet guns behind me on the bed, but then I don't want to be cleaning Spider guts out of my Printer, I looked to my left and seen the shop Vac I use for cleaning up the floor, I got up and rolled it over to the Computer desk, the Wolf Spider was still there, turn on the Vacuum and Sucked up the Spider, then I covered the hose to create a deep vacuum several time to kill the spider, it wasn't an air gun but it did involve Air..... and the Spider is now gone.... thank you, thank you very much....

 I made an attempt to get a G-Hog, tossed the Notos in the Bob Cat Loader, and headed up to the pile of post that we have been seeing them buggers running under, had the Notos scope set to PBR and at the ready when I lifted the pile, sure enough there was a big hole there, but no instant gratification. Now there hole is exposed, I will be vigilant.

 Was a perfect afternoon for another chipmunk safari, spotted a few frolicking about 100 yards into the woods. Stopped tok some range finder readings after the shots, first Nick gets a shot right from the trail, THWAP, but I see one run off from the direction he was aiming, we approach cautiously, as nothing meaner than a wounded chipper.
 A Search reveilles the results were deadly from 37 yards with a Chaser pistol, and Norma wadcutters.


 We linger at the scene of the crime, as there were more perps in the vicinity, Nick has the 12 - 4 shift and I had 7 to 12. I spotted a grey squirrel and watched its actions, then spotted this guy scurrying around some logs, up, down, over there then up on a big rotten log it stopped long enough for me to take this picture, later lasered at 25 yards with Notos and 21 ge H&N slugs.

I haven't seen much in the way of Chipmunks around my place this year.
I picked off  2 or 3 with the 117cal Stoeger and Umarex Multi Pump this summer and that is it.
The cat has really done a good job of thinning them out.
He has been knocking them off all summer long and has eliminated quite a few of them.

I went and got my small game hunting licenses yesterday.
Locally the regular, the Squirrel & Rabbit season opens 9/16/2023.  Raccoon opens 10/14/2023.
I need to get all my rifles out of the gun safe and check zero on them before the season opens.

Two days ago a skunk (#11 for this year) was again trying to undermine the barn foundation. I pursued him but he escaped over the property line and into a creek bed. Today, my wife and I were watering the trees and there he was, my wife screamed skunk!!!!!! He was heading towards the barn  . On the tractor sat the Marauder Super Light! Well, this is as close as I dare get.



I had to take the shot quickly at 30 yards and I put it through his head, the exiting JSB sprayed a cloud of blood. Supposedly a body shot they do not spray, I do not know but I know one in the ear drops them fast. I used a JSB 34 grain pushed at 60+ fpe. I gave him one in the head and he was bowled over. I gave him two more to make sure he was dead. If they would stay back in the woods ---- but that foam injection to repair their damage was expensive ($2,000+). I could have bought a Maverick . Or more Marauder parts .
