Done buying PCPs for a while

Buying guns is exciting , then when I get them in , I realize I don’t have time to tune. The dealer “tune” is ok , but not good enough for me , so I end until taking time away from my kids to tune , then it’s not cool anymore. I tuned my new L2 and Dreamtact which were my new additions to where I want them but lost sleep waking early to go to the shop to tune.  Last thing I want to do is blacklist my hobby with my family so we will just enjoy the new toys by just shooting them now that I know they are shooting awesome.

I'm right there with you, but for different reasons.  Money has gotten tighter with the down turn of the economy and I'm trying to pay off as much as possible before transitioning to a fixed income in 18 months.  So, something has to take a backseat, and for me it's new airgun purchases!  Fortunately, I have a nice selection to choose from and there's not really anything new that has my interest, so it's a good time to NOT be tempted into wanting anything new!

I need to buckle down myself, its only going to get worse out here in the real world. I want one more in .22 and a side lever, then selling my bolt guns off to recoup some of that cost. Otherwise, it's shoot what I got and gift the ones that don't sell.
There are so many options out there and it's hard not to get more, but it always ends up as a goldilocks story... this one isn't right, that one isn't right...

Lol so true about the PCP world Goldilocks. The next one isn’t always better. It’s usually a headache. I have just my Weiraugh break barrels that didn’t need anything out of the box. Just scope and shoot.

The other part of me being done with new PCP's is the frustration with a few more recent purchases.  Seems they never quite live up to the hype.  The best part was the excitment in anticipation of receiving it, but that was quickly crushed by the reality that it really wasn't what you had hoped for!  The only airgun I have that has not been tuned, tinkered with or modified is the Cayden, and it's a joy to shoot.  All the rest will never give me the return I have invested, so may as well keep them and be happy with them!

Our expectations never match what the manufacturer delivers(most times) I’ve learned that by buying and selling/returning more guns then I’d like to admit to. For the average guy the average pcp with average trigger and accuracy is good enough. Some people including me are very particular about our airgun hobby. I’m very much a trigger, fit and finish and accuracy snob within reason of course. I’d never expect anything from a $75 big 5 special however things change once you add a zero to the end of that amount. With all my nice stuff I still enjoy shooting my 1322 and 392 both are good enough for what they are used for but it’s a different story with my regulated guns they better perform or they get the boot:)

Comfort, ease of use and accuracy are my three keys.  Looks isn't on theist and if I was offered a rust patina rat rod air gun that was comfortable, easy to use and hole in hole.... I would be happy.

The wants beyond that are secondary but nice to have but not mandatory.

I have committed to 3 main air guns, I have a Chaser I play with and two 880's the kids shoot but that's all.

And the one I have started building and collecting parts for  . But I pretty much trashed my gun budget at the local gun show this past weekend. Added to my Marlin stash, bought a new Marlin .45-70 1895 SBL, another Marlin 39A .22 and a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington and a pack of .25 caliber 34 grain JSB pellets . I do have the money set aide for the JTS Aircuda Standard. I have been informed by she who watches over me that I cannot buy any more guns this year  .

Added to my Marlin stash, bought a new Marlin .45-70 1895 SBL, another Marlin 39A .22 and a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington and a pack of .25 caliber 34 grain JSB pellets . I do have the money set aide for the JTS Aircuda Standard. I have been informed by she who watches over me that I cannot buy any more guns this year  .

I had a new rifle show up yesterday and incurred the wrath myself lol

They keep us on check which is good because my kids will have a roof on their head it’s a nice balance. She supports the hobby as long as it’s not waaaaay out of control. Heck she told me to get the L2 but can’t take it too far or the brown stuff will hit the fan hence no more guns for a while to spend time with my kids and wife with a clear mind not thinking what velocity to set my L2 for the 18.1 come Monday morning. I’d much rather take a couple shots out the window at my spinner Target than tune

Oh mine has her guilty pleasure too... house plants lol. She has an entire room devoted to them and they're scattered around the house as well. I got tired of counting when I made it into the 50s. Some are cool looking, by my god!

Lol the squirrel doesn’t know the difference between a .22 and .25 or If you paid $200 or $2000. Pellet gun is just a lead delivery system. How far you take it is all on you. Total I’ve had maybe 40 pellet guns I’ve only held onto 10 nice ones. I’ve sold, returned  and given away the rest. Luckily I don’t care much about pbs. I have a couple for home defense and couple for dove hunting once or twice a year.

Lately I've been shooting supersonic .177s from my $179 Stormrider. It's louder, but they can't jump if the pellet gets there before the sound does.    For some reason I love this little rifle as much or more than my more expensive ones.

My she boss has spent more on quilting projects than any of my airguns cost so it evens out.  But not money wise just hobby wise.  She has one sewing machine that cost 7K plus several others that she can't use but one at a time, but who am I to say anything.  She has a walkin closet full of finished quilts gotta be worth 8-9 grand.  Enough said.
