If the muskrat that chews on my dock floats shows up before my 25 caliber Avenger comes back from warranty repairs it will get used. It's a big old one so I will definitely need to hit the brain but with a good shot it is up to that task I am sure. A stock P-rod is light in my opinion even for squirrels unless you hit the brain. It will drive a pellet into the vitals but I had a few run off so I upped the power and it stopped that. At around 17 fpe I shot from one side front shoulder to the opposite side rear leg at 25 yards. Right through the vitals and nearly the length of the squirrel (crosman 14.3 grain domed). But the stock tune at about 100fps less velocity will not do that. That squirrel was quite tasty.

In terms of knock around, I don't see an issue, it is not fragile, at least not compared to a scope. The plastic stock it comes with is also sturdy but the attachment allows some shift and the drop is so much I screwed a piece of a 2x4 to mine before making my current stock. My current stock is a metal tube so it is sturdy.

For the use you describe I would at least try turning in the hammer spring some to increase velocity. It will come set between 3 and 4 turns in and you will see velocity gains all the way to 7 turns in. The stock transfer port is .080. I drilled mine to .1015 after thinking I had turned the hammer spring in 7 turns when I had not. I may call Crosman and get some new transfer ports and redo that while I wait on my Avenger. I might be able to get to 700+ fps without the bigger transfer port. If you like tinkering with guns, the Prod is great since it is so easy to work on. I shoot from the left side so I moved the bolt to that side.

my P-rod is tuned to 700 fps, I just turned up the hammer spring a few turns, it will go higher but shot count goes way down.....

I fixed the ping, and shot count issues of the P-Rod

4500 PSI C/F bottle , reg. 1850 psi, 14.5 CPHP 620 fps.., 18 gr JSB 575 FPS 10 FPE adv. ish. Have not counted the shots yet

Late to the party, but this is mine, bottled and upgraded to a 16,5" barrell machining a 2260 barrell.
It shoot 15,9 JSB's at 900fps.I am thinking to switch to a carbon fiber bottle too.

I am beginning the search for my first PCP. Want it very quiet, pistol - carbine combo, adjustable power, garage target and small game (pesting really), prefer .22, want parts and service availabilty.
I was leaning towards the Artemis PP750, significant difference in price from the Prod. I know I would have to add items to get it the way I will want, but I assume the extras will be a similar cost for either gun.
At the moment the PP750 seems unavailable. I do like the side fill on it given the filter of the barging hand pump, and I will be adding a LDC.

Seems the concensus here is the Prod.

Wow, darn near perfect! $310 for two guns. Can the Bandit have an adjustable regulator added I wonder? Will have to do the research. Seems the Bandit is out of sock, but Krale has the Artemis. I did not notice does the barrel band for the rifle barrel from co2 fit the pcp? Will have to watch the video again.

Yes, same barrel band.
I don't think I would use a reg... the air tube is way small and a reg would just take too much capacity away from it.
Better to tune with tp size and hammer strike...

Over all the "answers" seem to be :
1. Add more air (longer tube or a bottle conversion)
2. Add extensions/LDC's to make it quieter.
3. End up making it longer/heavier.

Which makes me think...if that was the goal, why buy the P-rod in the first place?

My case the prod was on sale dirt cheap, with added AR stock and adapter, scope, LDC, reg. and CF bottle it is 3.3 lbs heavier, from Factory weight. Still a nice Carbine IMO, the prod never felt right as a pistol unless at a bench with a bag $:-\$
Ended up not costing much more than MSR
