The original was released in 1951.  73 years ago.

1951. The first Television station in North Texas began broadcasting in 1951. WBAP "We Bring A Program" we didn't have a Television.  Oh, and I was just a too young to remember.

KLFY-TV was the first station to broadcast in Lafayette, Louisiana (Cajun Country).  It started broadcasting on June 3, 1955.  [We were able to receive a clear signal with 'rabbit ears'.]

It all depends upon your location, in Louisianna it's La-FI-et, French. In Middle Tennessee it's La-FAY-et, the correct way.
