Dealing with rainy weather, it's part of a cold front that the storm will mix with eventually. So get most of the indoor stuff done while waiting for the weather to clear out some. I am set for the supplies no need to get out in the middle of the twilight zone if possible. Sam, be careful on I-10, there was a pile up last night west bound lane east of DeFuniak Springs.

I'm taking highway 20 til I hit Walton county.  Then we'll turn north about Crestview and take backroads from there.  We done this before.  It looks like you're going to be on the west side of it Kris.  Good luck and God bless.  We are loaded and pulling out shortly.

Morning...
Up at 4am and made coffee. At 6 I heard Boss whining back in the bedroom. I assume she was trying to get Betty Lou's attention. I called her out and she came in her usual "on my terms" fashion.    After petting and comforting her for a bit, she climbed up on her bed in the living room and went back to sleep. I suspect she goes through periods where she misses Rambo, as we all do.
I'm keeping an eye on the beast in the Gulf. We are just barely outside the West side of it's predicted path and frankly, I don't trust Ma Nature or those folks that think they know what she has in mind.
We got a good downpour yesterday that fill all the large puddles but it got sucked up but the dry sandy ground pretty quickly. If we get more it will likely stand.
I hope all you folks in the line of fire get out safe and return to find little to no damage.

Good Morning! I woke up a few times in the night but, I stayed in bed until 6:00 this morning.

 I have to have our gate open and be here for the electric company to make some power pole repairs today. I have some things to do outside and it is supposed to be cooler today with a high of just 94°F with 21% humidity at peak temperature. 

 About when it hits 90°F I'll find stuff to do inside.

 It is my wife's "stitching group" day so, it will be just me and Hank hanging out today.

 The wind forecast is just a breeze today, maybe I will shoot a little depending on when the repairs get done?

Why doesn’t the utility just put one of their locks in link with your lock so they can let themselves in anytime they need access to their equipment?

I don't know why but ever since they injected the glow juice in me my back has been giving me problems.🤬🤬 I've still got to sand and paint the front porch, clean up my husky chain saw so it can be fixed. I can't remember what else right now. Dang! I worked way less when I had a job to go to every day.

Getting ready to go out and see what, if any, mess the storm left me to clean up. I woke up around midnight and could see on the camera that the wind blowing pretty good. I could also hear small branches and stuff hitting the tin roof. Other than that I'll just putter around in the shop.

Our drought is broken.  There is water in the detention pond behind our house for the first time in months.  It is supposed to continue raining the rest of today and into tomorrow.

Good morning, no damage or debris to clean up just a lot of flooding here. Power did go out for a few hours and it's back on.  Waiting on the status of family in Madison, they took the full monty of the storm last night. Not much else to do other than feed the zoo and move some to dryer ground for a minute, unload the van and get it unstuck out of the yard, and fix the dryer door switch that broke yesterday.

 In So Ca they have private contractors doing a lot of their maintenance work, It actually is ridiculous IMO, they have multiple companies contracted, they don't coordinate well at all. It is  for fire hazard prevention and they inspect the poles and lines between every couple weeks up to every 6 weeks maximum. It seems they compete to see who notices needed repairs, (but they all get paid for inspections) and who does the repairs too. They use ground crews, helicopters and drones to inspect constantly. This is the result of years of complete system neglect, the State suing the electric company for that neglect, and now their response seems overdone and wasteful to me. I am all for for prevention measures and guess it is cheaper for them than the law suit settlements.

 I am not against properly maintained lines but they/we are paying multiple times for the same work to be done. It is the redundancy that I would like to see go away but, without proper coordination between all contractors and the electric company that is not going to happen.

It's a beautiful, warm, blue sky day in the scenic "Live Free or Die" state.   I guess I'll go out and turn over some compost piles and if I still have energy, I'll prune, chop brush and haul away the debris.   I like to start out optimistic about my endurance.

Thanks all.  We're home safe and sound after several minor but frustrating mini crisis.  Literally no sign of a storm here.  The river is high and it may have been up to the top of the rip-wrap but it is fine now.  The floating dock is still attached but one of the mooring poles collapsed.  That's the extent of it.  We got lucky again.  Other folks didn't.  I feel for the people in Cedar Key and Wacasassa Bay but they know the risks same as us.  Getting a relief column organized here with supplies for folks near Perry.
