I have not slept past 7am in years. 99% of the time I'm up around 5am.

Up and at it late, such a difference from when I was up and at it early a few months ago... Had my son all day yesterday but still managed to get out and celebrate my birthday with my little sister.

I think my natural sleep schedule (if I didn’t have to get up for work) would be 2300 to 0700 hrs.  I like to get up early when it’s light out but during the darker winter months I really have a difficult time getting up in the dark.  I work outside and as I have gotten older I find that I do get grumpy when the weather gets wet and the days are short.  I lose a lot of excitement having to work at heights in the rain with high voltage electricity.  In the summer I absolutely love it!  Getting up early is easy when it’s light outside.

I'm happy with my natural alarm clock. Now that I'm retired I can get up, turn on the coffee, take care of the dogs, grab a shower and watch the 30 minutes of news and weather while having coffee the get outside at daybreak or shortly there after.

Hello folks!

It’s 33 degrees out at the moment.  High of 46 for today.  Everything is frosty white this morning and not a single cloud in the sky with a beautiful bright sun shining!  Cold and clear.  I love this weather. 

Nothing planned for the day yet.  I’ll probably get the Christmas lights out and on the outside.  I think we decided to keep the fall decorations up a bit longer.  I personally like the fall decorations more than the Christmas decorations so I like the idea. 

I didn’t get a chance to shoot any airguns yesterday.  We shot lots of pool but no airguns.  I should do some 50 yard groups with at least the Taipan.  I haven’t shot the Huntsman in a bit.  Maybe I’ll shoot that one? 

Right now I’m caffeinating and procrastinating enjoying the moment.

Pic are out the front, out the back and last night from the backyard looking towards the house with that bright moonlight.  You can see the back of the house lit up from the fire pit. 

Amen I'm loving this weather! Last night I brought my mother over to my place to stay the night and I got some wood burning in the pit and we sat by it enjoying the warmth and the bright near full moon and stars. We smelled like smoke afterward which was pleasant. I heard a hog next door in the woods so I got my AR with the IR scope and stalked in the moonlight hiding under tree shade but I couldn't see the hog through the trees despite it only being 25yds from me so it got a lucky pass.

Good morning GTA! Happy Sunday! I got up at 0430 and on my second cup o’Joe. I have a job on me already for today, a store down in Ft Smith, but they don’t open until 1100 and nobody there comes in early. I’m good with that, I’ll roll down there about 0945. Dispatch said first they were too cold, now they’re too hot. I guess somebody else was already there for the too cold call recently.

My #2 son and his mother are going to get him an ultrasound at the VA (on Sunday, go figure) (got to get that Sunday pay, huh?, then to Colusa to gamble a bit, then to the grocery store.

Man is it cold 🥶🥶🥶 out side!!! 14f with the wind-chill. Not sure what's going to happen today with it that cold. Still dry as a popcorn fart which is strange. We usually have at least a little snow or rain by now. My daughter in NM says they're getting all kinds of rain and snow.

Woke up @ 0520.  Fell back asleep until 0640, got up and dressed, made espresso.  Now I’m sipping coffee with Buster on my lap purring while I surf and stare out the window. He is keeping me warm. It’s 27 and frosty outside.  Fire picture is from yesterday.

I've been up since 0730.  It's a pretty day BUT it's 45° with a 25-30 mph north wind so, there won't be any shootin' at my house today.  I think I'll go shower and shave and take some more MgO pills.

Brett those cats are great heating pads especially when they toot but the smell is not enjoyable though. Does that pit block most of the heat where your legs and feet stay cold near it? I have a 1ft high brick pit that I can rest my feet on next to the fire but despite having a grate to block some embers I have to watch out for some popping out past the grate to not burn a hole in my pants.

Sounds like O felt yesterday morning, actually until about 3 PM.
Sinus/allergy pills and Tylenol eventually helped.

Yes, the pit blocks the heat down low.  It’s double walled so not much heat radiates out.  It’s part of the design so it burns the smoke.  Funny you mention a spark screen.  We NEED one!  Ha ha

I have thought about digging a hole and lining it with bricks to keep the dirt from collapsing in and setting the pit down into it so the more heat will radiate on feet and legs.  I just started sitting on a metal stool to stay elevated so the heat hits more of my body.  A burn barrel might be a better idea for actual heat but I like this pit because it’s portable and smokeless so I can use it right by the back of the house.  A regular fire pit would smoke us out.

A raised brick pit with air holes at ground level is best since the holes also drain rain water. I have the center of mine slightly raised around an inch to push the water out toward the holes instead of holding it in a puddle inside the pit to freeze up.
