Yes, I have a Salamander and a Propane heater... but the truck is so big I can't shut the door.
 It never warmed up yesterday and I just wasn't feeling it.
 So this morning I packed up my tools and took it to work and did it in the Maintenance Shop there.
Done by 10:30!

You made the best choice. Exactly what I'd have done.

Good morning GTA! Happy Monday! Up at 04-something CST. It’s Thanksgiving week, so to speak, I’m only working today & tomorrow. Not much going on, but I do have a job on me for today. But I only have half the parts that I asked for. I suppose I could do half the job and ask the office what to do about it… or wait until 0800 hrs and see if the office made a mistake and I should wait. Either way, I probably won’t get much work these 2 days and I have some stuff to get ready before we head to Hot Springs for Thanksgiving at my Mom’s.

Got the chicken house wall roll up door put up in the Red Shed yesterday. Still needs a little tweeking but it works great and buttons up the door opening.
I have a phone interview this morning for some more retirement related stuff. After that I'm going to try to rundown the wiring connection to the Red Shed. I think I'll enlist Betty Lou with the large shop vac to eliminate some very old spider webage.
I've decided to unload and reload the trailer for the dump. We put a bunch of burnable stuff in there and I'm going to pull it back out to make more room to put actual dump stuff. I can probable reduce it to one trip.

I'm really beginning to realize how much better things will be once I get the Red Shed finished. I had to make several ventures into the small tool shed yesterday and it's so slam packed that I struggled finding the things I needed to do the jobs I was working on. The much larger building will really let me organize things better plus give me plenty of indoor workspace.

Good Morning GTA, I was up at 4:38 and the power is back on ahead of schedule. My generator kept heat going in our bedroom, it is 30°F 5 miles away but it is 36°F at my house at 5:17. It is 67°F in my office and I have my Coffee  so all's well.  I have a bunch of errands to do today including turning in the marriage paperwork at the count office. I could mail them but dropping them off is more sure delivery and the office is just 8 miles away in town and 1/2 a mile from another place I have to go.

Working now... I have some little things to address later today.  Pressure washing some garbage cans, mulching some leaves, and once it shows up, squaring the miter saw.

I wound up running a no-heat call. This one’s easy because the air conditioning to heat changeover are inside the units on the roof. But, it’s not supposed to be this way. I’ll get the heat going and remind them their internet hasn’t worked here since before Covid, therefore the control system is offline. I have had temporary thermostats inside the return air sections in the units since then. If I left it in auto mode, they’ll never fix it. It gives me something to do. I have another one after this, but not sure what it is yet.

I know what you mean, Bill. My garage and my attic are packed. My garage has just enough space for parking the wife’s car or shooting from the benches when we pull the car out. I have a 12’x20’ concrete pad I’ve been doing my scrap metal on. I’m getting it cleaned up and I’m going to put a 12’x20’ shed on it with a roll up door facing the house and a side pedestrian door facing the driveway. My pile is now about waist high. I’m hoping to have this set before springtime. It will be electrified for hvac, lights and a powered service bench for the mower, etc. I’m pretty excited. It’d be nice to reach anything anytime in the garage too. Just might be enough room in the garage to park my wife’s car on the far side and leave the airgun stuff always setup. Once upon a time I had an aluminum boat & trailer in there with my wife’s car next to it, so there once was room enough.

How does one accumulate so much stuff that they need multiple storage spaces?   When my wife and I moved from an apartment to our house 35 years ago, we marveled at all the huge empty closets, empty cellar, huge empty attic, empty oversized garage and empty barn thinking we'd never need all that space.   A mere 35 years later every space is packed with stuff and I have a couple junk vans in the backyard also packed with stuff.

Started the primer for the self leveler I'll be pouring in the Den.
Did along the walls so that dries and then will caulk. After that dries?
I'll do 3 or 4 coats of the primer before the pour.

I don’t know, Ernie, but it happens. I’ve owned nothing but what I could carry in a couple duffle bags more than a few times in my life. But, here I am.

I've accrued a buncha stuff.  I gave way more away than I wanted to when I moved from Virginia Beach to Chesterfield southwest of Richmond.  Moved from a house with garage and a 16x20 shed to 2 bedroom apartment- situation dictated I get rid of stuff because "money was too tight for a storage unit".  Total BS, but that wife is also the ex.  Sonja is totally different and values quality tools.

Well, nowadays, I still have a lot of things.  I trade some stuff away (2 bows, arrows, bowfishing kit, radial arm saw, table saw), give away other things (12 foot jonboat, 400 feet of oxyacetylene hose, 3 torch kits, a turbo-torch with 50 feet of hose, a MIG and an ARC welder).... but wouldn't ya know, I end up with more of the same.  A neighbor just gifted me a Troybilt Pony mower.    I think we're destined to just have more stuff than we need.  Hhaha- good news is there's other people who have what we need and need what we have.  So more bartering and horse-trading!

And, TBH, those of us who value tools somehow end up with more than we need anyway.

Dropped a daughter off at the airport, made eggnog lattes (cappuccino for myself) and sealed the grout on the tile in the kitchen.  I have a couple small areas to prime and paint and some caulking to do once the sealer has dried.  It's tough trying to renovate a lived in/used space.  I'm hoping to get all of the fine details wrapped up in the next couple of days.

Yep, tools are one of those things I'm always accumulating.   I've never been able to turn down quality tools even if I already have one.    The sad part is after a lifetime of tool collecting and experience, my knowledge and skills at building and fixing stuff have peaked out but it's physically tough for an old man to tackle a lot of work that was once easy.

Looking good, Brett! I love that extruding window! After 12 years in our home, it really is time to get started on some renovations for ourselves. Some things need fixing, some things need changed to suit us.

Mother-in-law is already home from the other hip replacement.  Both are done, and my FiL is doing pretty good from his shoulder replacement.   I wasn't too worried... not really.  Nope.  Not at all.


It also means I can chew them out when they misbehave without repercussions- at least for a couple more weeks.

Good morning GTA! Happy Tuesday! Though, it is like Friday for me, I’m on vacation tomorrow. My wife woke me up getting into bed at 0250 hrs, I thought I wasn’t going to fall back to sleep. The neighbor’s oldest cow was about to have her calf when I went to bed at 2100. My wife believes the calf didn’t make it. I did fall back to sleep and got up at 0600 CST. I don’t have a job on me for today, and I’d be fine with that. I got my new iPad and iPhone from work and I’d like to get them right before I wipeout the old ones and send them in. I also, have a few things I’d like to do before we head to my Mom’s for Thanksgiving. Of course, all that could change at 0800 if they have work for me to do.

I had a plan in place for a hunt this morning.  HAD is the operable word.
My daughter-in-law called:  Grandson #1 has an upset stomach and is going to hangout here - incase he needs some tender-loving-care.  Oh well, the afternoon will be warmer and much more comfortable to sit and wait for a squirrel to show itself.
I bet you are thinking 'what about the wife staying with the grandson?'  Well ladies and gentlemen, this mother's son learn many years ago to NOT mess with the lady's hair appointment.
