Good morning GTA! Happy Wednesday- it’s Hump-Day, again! I rolled around between 0330 and 0400 and got up at 0400 CT. I’m on my second cup o’ Joe already. I have my 0600 meeting with the guys from Ch**ch this morning. Then I have to meet with the newest of new guys to figure out how to access a noisy exhaust fan that another tech wrote up for but couldn’t access. We’ll get it figured out, should be a good day.

Scott, I’m glad to hear you’re feeling human… I hope & pray you’re on the mend.

Good morning GTA!!! Up at 0430 CT this morning. I finished mowing the 5 acres but by the time I got through it was too hot for me to do the trimming.  (Sorry Carter but the Heat trumps Motivation.)

I only had one tiny hiccup with my mower yesterday. The ditch along the road still has running water in it from all the rain and I decided to make one last pass so I wouldn't have so much to trim. I noticed the mower suddenly started scalping on the left side and I knew something broke.  I turned the blades off and drove back the house. I parked on the patio in the shade and knelt down. Yep a 3/8" x 1-1/4" bolt had broken half in to. The bolt that connects the chain to the deck to raise it.  I looked at the head of the bolt and as expected it was a Grade 5. I cranked up and pulled my mower into the garage and looked in my bolt bin but couldn't find a Grade 8 so over to my son's shop I go.  I find exactly what need and head back. Took about 5 minutes to repair just in time as my wife looked out and said that lunch was ready.  I moved the mower down to the shed, ran back and grabbed a shower before I sat down for lunch.  I didn't do much of anything the rest if the day.

As soon as it's light enough to see I'm gonna do the string trimming.

Glad you’re better Scott.  I’ve still got the flu but I’m hoping this is the last of it.  I tried to go to work this a.m.  After the first hour my fever was back so I went up to the admin building and sat in the AC till I felt better.  I got my time sheets all caught up for the month then told the PM that I was through and going home.  She gave me a thumbs up and told me to feel better. Our management is so great!

Anyhoo. . . . I’m home now.  Well medicated too!

Hey Cap'n, I didn't realize you were so sick. I thought you just had a 24-hour bug.  Fever still, you got something for sure. Flu or Rona one.

I finished mowing the 5 acres yesterday but by the time I got through it was too hot for me to do the trimming.

So at 0700 I started the string trimming and finished at 0915.  Two spools of string and 1-1/2 tanks of fuel mix.  Even though it's  was only 75° we had 70% humidity so I was soaked with sweat after 2-1/2 hours of trimming.


Oh and I fell down, hard....landed on my butt bounced and came down on my left shoulder. That's my bad shoulder....an old motorcycle injury that we don't like to bring up.

My pride was definitely hurt but I know I'm gonna be sore. I was cutting down a 3" privet hedge with a machete that I keep with me on the ATV while trimming.  To be able to quickly and efficiently cut hedge with a machete it's good to bend the branch over or trunk in this case and swing the blade at a 45° angle.  It will usually snap as the blade hits. This time the limb I was pulling separated from the trunk in midswing.  Imagine being in a tug-a-war and someone cuts the rope. I hit the ground hard, I mean it jarred every bone,  I bounced and came down hard the second time on my shoulder.

I don't like to half-way do anything, so when I fall, there will be bruises. LOL

Thanks, I just got up, repeated the cut using the same technique, stacked up the limbs, used a strap on my 4-wheeler pulled them to the burn pile. Then got back to trimming.

Did it already.
Cut the grass and trimmed the bushes.
I had UROLIFT 7 days ago.
After procedure meds are done on Friday.
Supposed to lay around and rest.
That is what they told me when I had the family jewels modified 46 years ago.
I locked up like a rusty screw ( ).
Not anymore.
Supposed to see the quack in two weeks.
So far it seems like it was a waste of my time and MEDICARE’s money.
I do not recommend it for anyone.

It was 95°F at my place in town at 8:50AM this morning. I had gone in and watered the shrubs and rose bushes while I changed a tire on the 1971 Impala.

I just came across some interesting info about the electric demand here in Southern California, temperatures are 10-18 degrees warmer than normal.


On Monday, the peak load for electricity is projected to be the highest of the year, exceeding 48,000 megawatts. Officials will ask Californians not to charge electric vehicles if conditions worsen.

This message comes after California regulators moved last week to require all new vehicles in the state to run on electricity by 2035.

Also ALL new housing has to be "ready" (built for) to be all Electric currently. Contractors can still install gas appliances but muse have wiring in place so that if replaced they are ready for electric replacements.

I think it peaked at 115°F today in town and 111°F where I live.

Currently 114°F in town and 108°F where I live 8.5 miles south of there. Our humidity got down to 12% today.
