Good morning GTA! Happy Tuesday! Up at 0450 CT. Today, it’s back to the grind… sorta. I’m having my second cup of coffee and I’ll get ready for work. But I don’t have a job on my board. I’ll call in at 0800 and figure it out. My back’s not ready, per agreement with my wife- I’ll call our regular doctor this morning to make an appointment. At 0900 I’m supposed to have a conference call to figure out what I can do or expect with a couple of my bosses. And I’ll go on from there, just do what I can do. I didn’t mount the lights on my mower yet, so as the sun gives enough light and before I roll- I’ll mow the backyard real quick, should take less than 20 minutes… it’s supposed to get real hot this week, starting today.

Sorry to hear that Dan.. as you know I just went through the same thing. Fortunately of the 4 TVs we have here we only lost one. That, a router and a cordless phone is what we had to replace. The cable company had to replace the rest of it.
One more week of shutdown. We have to get our 6 month blood work down and Betty Lou goes back to the dentist tomorrow.

 Back to making apples, not the electronic kind. Will try to get my PayPal straightened out, to complete my GTA cap order, could not do it at home as my new phone has no 5 g coverage even though my carrier made me get a new 5 g to give me better service

Betty Lou and I decided to head to Montgomery for the day.
One of our main stops will be Bass Pro/Cabelas.
We'll be looking at shooters of another flavor that can't be discussed here.
But who knows what we'll find. I like seeking out random pawn shops.

Good morning GTA! Happy Wednesday- it’s Hump Day, already! Set my alarm for 0430, got up at 0400 CT. I have an 1100 hrs doctor’s appointment. So I’m having a coffee and I’ll probably have another before I jump in the shower. I have my 0600 meeting with the guys from Ch**ch and I’ll come back home. I’d like to mow a bit more, if not the rest of my lawn before I head to the doctor, but I’m not so sure I should/could. We’ll see when I get back. After the doctor, I have a job in Ft. Smith, something about a cooler door and gaskets a few guys have messed with but can’t fix. I did hit 3 jobs yesterday that went well. Also, we bumped that meeting with my bosses til after the doctor. It’s going to be hot, again.

Heading to New Mexico tomorrow to visit my middle daughter and my grand kids. Never been to her house or that part of NM.

I was up at 0345 CT this morning. We had a thunderstorm last night and a hugh strike happened just fown the road from me that knocked out the power out at 2030 CT last night.  I went to bed expecting it to be repaired this morning. It was for everyone but me. The lightning strike blew the transformer on the pole last night. It took out our 50" TV, DSL modem, DVD player, two phone chargers and who knows what else. So I was hooking up the generator to our deep freeze at 0400 this morning.  I'll call my homeowners insurance company tomorrow to start a claim.

Update:
Our deductible is $2,500 so I won't be filing a claim. I thought the power surge got the hot water heater but it's okay, it just fried the 30 amp breaker.

I ordered a new TV and Blu Ray player today. Bought the part for the antenna yesterday. After I get the TV installed I'll call the internet provider to come replace the router.

Betty Lou has a dental appt. this morning then we both have doctor appt. for blood work.
We originally planned another atv trip for Saturday but I think I'll move it up to tomorrow because we have a weather system moving in on Saturday.
Back to work Monday after two weeks off.

Sorry to hear it’s coming out of your pocket, Dan. If there was such a thing as luck, that’d be mine too, every time. Deductibles are like taxes, I don’t like ‘em.

Well, good morning GTA! Happy Thursday! Up at 06-something… my wife woke me up at 0130 to put my CPAP back on and I couldn’t fall back to sleep… eventually, I did and slept in. Guess I needed it. Today I have a cooler/freezer, don’t know which, at a site only 15 minutes from the house to go see. I’ll have my 2 cups of coffee and get rolling in to work.

Today.  Make an appointment to have the rest of my teeth pulled.  Rehab a few crab pots. Pump up the tires on the beach cart.  Put fresh monofilament on a couple of surf reels.  Load the rods, coolers, kayak, beach umbrella etc, on the truck.  Swing by the fish house and pick up some offal for crab bait and chum.

Planning a long day fishing tomorrow.  I’ll start before dawn by dropping some crab pots off the old St. George island bridge.  Then I’ll cast net up some finger size mullet for bait, put the kayak in, and fish the flats till it gets too hot.  After that I’ll make a decision about whether to go surf fishing or bridge fishing.  In the evening I’ll definitely be bridge fishing.  Last thing I’ll pull the crab pots and hopefully head home with a load of seafood.

Do you every use Croakers as bait for Red Drums and/or Speckled Sea Trout?  We would catch many Mullets and Croakers when cast netting for shrimp in the Louisiana marshes.  But mostly we used shrimp for bait when they were available.

Croaker, mud minnows, mullet, they’re all good!  St. George has sand fleas (mole crabs).  If I can score a couple dozen they are probably the best saltwater bait going right now.  I fish with shrimp quite often but you tend to catch all sorts of trash on shrimp.  Stingrays and such.  Red fish, specks and flounder will hit a finger mullet or a mud minnow.  Black drum and sheep head like shrimp.  I try to bait with whatever they are eating.

Good morning GTA! Happy Friday!!! We made it! Set my alarm for 0500 and got up a bit before it went off. I’m having a cup o’joe- Folgers medium roast… and I’ll have one more before I get moving around too seriously. This morning I’ll go visit my chiropractor and stop by the supply house… there are essentials I need that I haven’t been able to get, like replacing my nitrogen tanks. I really need dry nitrogen for leak checks & blowing stuff out, like drains and small condenser coils. Supply everywhere in every aspect is not so great anymore. Once I get through all that, I have an open air produce cooler having routine issues- too close to the front entrance: the unit runs hot because of higher than max allowed ambient temperature & the condenser coils get dirty fast and the drains get dirty & clog. I’m hoping for a good day; I got 12 hours in yesterday and even got in the pool at 2000 hrs last night… that pool- if I have time after work- is the best way to finish the day, the water was so warm: my muscles & joints really appreciate it.

Today marks 3 days remaining in my 2 week shutdown at work.
It was 80* with 76% dew point at 6am this morning. Heat index will be around 108* today and strong thunderstorms are promised to move in late afternoon and evening and continue through tomorrow.
The ATVs are already loaded and we prepared everything yesterday for today's 'adventures in the mud'.
We'll pull out around 8:30, stop and gas everything up, load the cooler with ice and beer/soft drinks/water and make the 1 hour trip to AMP.
Once there we'll set the popup, unload everything and head to the trails/mud on the ATVs. When we get too muddy and too hot we'll head to the river to sit in the cool water.

Today after work, I plan on picking up a LARGE pizza from my favorite carry out then playing "Card table"
 That's when I drink until my legs fold under me.
