Actually using airguns out in the fields/woods/swamps has pretty well cured me of the OCD tendency. "Stuff" is going to get "messed up" out in the nasty world...only pamperedrange queens stay pretty. Cost/effort/beneifit analisis comes back (for me) as "let it be....going to happen every time out in the real world".Doesn't excuse the long screws/divots....but I don't see that as a real major safety issue unlesss they are a lot bigger/deeper/sharper edged than shown so far.Although the fill pressure does seem to be BOTH something folks look forward being able to take advantage of to AND something folks are on the look out for.So far as tube matrial...so long as it's safe, don't really care about the little bit of weight change or what material it's made from. Could be steel, Al., Ti, or fossilized bat guano for all I care....1 pound isn't going to make-or-break the rifle for me.YEt I still don't buy one.Can see how it could be a great all-around or starter PCP....very good reports for accuracy/energy/shot count.....if I were starting over today, I'd buy one.
I believe that McMaster Carr carries nylon tipped set screws.
Bill, have you done the 1/2 day canoe trip, taking a full day to do it with your floating cooler in tow out of Milton, FL? https://www.blackwatercanoe.com/They take you upstream to put in, and you lazily float back down to where you parked your vehicle. It is a pretty good time.

Since it's done damaged to the tube already...to prevent further damages, yes.I am not "impressed" with the way it is made, that and the casted breech half.
I get the concerns about safety. So any of you guys that "dink" a divot in the finish of your guns during normal use of the gun over the years give me a holler.... I'll make you an offer on that dangerous gun.... I may be wrong but I doubt if any of those divots are deeper than the threads cut into the tubes.
OK guys I think I have the fix for the barrel band ... it is very simple you take and empty jsb tin that holds pellets ,the metal is pretty thin .... so you remove the sticker off the bottom of the tin by using hot water in the tin to help release the glue on the sticker - a heat gun will also work ... then take a pair of tin snips or i used a pair of simple harbor freight stainless bladed sizers ,and cut the bottom out of the can out , then take that round flat metal and cut a 5/8 wide strip out of it then cut that strip into 2 pieces about 3/4 long , next i had to smooth the metal out from cutting it , I used a small metal tube flash light to press the metal into a smooth rounded shape with the end cap on a sharpie plastic cap end by holding the metal on the round body of the flash light and pressing hard on to the metal with the plastic cap end of the sharpie ... { and yes this is a " MacGyver " job ! } OK so now you will have 2 pieces of rounded flat thin metal that should if you have them shaped correctly just fit them in sliding into the barrel band 1 on the air tube side ,and one on the barrel shroud side lined up with the barrel band screws , then you simply slide the metal in tell they hit the screw's then loosen both screws on the barrel band push those metal pieces all the way in and tighten up the barrel band screws and you are done ! ... now those screws are pushing against those metal pieces that you made and not the actual shroud , or air tube ....
I totally agree. Simple. I'm still hoping someone will share the diameter of the shroud and the top air tube.
Bandaid,That was my exact fist though to what I would do in that situation,But in the end it's only a bandaid, good short term fix, who knows what the long terms will bring. As I said I take an hardened Steel air tube at 3500 psi then an aluminum at 4000+ psi,.......no matter what the price of the gun is.
I like the Avenger, but if I had one I would fill it to 200 BAR,....just me, but I really don't care since I'm not planning to get one, just talking story here. And By the way,...what happened to the big time American patriot that hates everything about China ? ...been buying a bunch of China products lately, LOLHypocrits never fail ...give them rope........LOL
