I have not received a shipping notification yet for my order and I ordered 6 days ago. Most unusual 🤔

Just Emailed Al asking if my order really did go through. My card was charged for it? Usually I get any mould I order from Al in about 4 days and today is the 5th day but only the 3rd working day. Oh well, when it gets here it gets here.

I agree, something doesn't smell right with the delivery.  NOE has never taken more than four days for me to receive.  I know the USPS is limping along these days.  I would certainly be communicating with NOE to find out what's going on.

weights look awesome. getting 36.6-36.8 grains. pure lead. temp doesn't seem to change these much. they measure in at .344" long with .2495 diameter.
shot some this morning, but they are way slow at 700 fps. this was using how my pelet tune is set up. got fresh batteries for the chrony, and now may have to change the hammer back out to see where i can get these moving at. Oh, no spiraling at this speed and decent accuracy, just not enough FPE.

It seems that I've hit a wall. I got it up to 850 fps with the 36.7 grain for 59 FPE. I'm probably going to need valve work to get above that. I pushed my reg setpoint to about 2100 psi, still got my aftermarket spring in, but had to go back to the heavy hammer. I wonder if Hajimoto's valve stop is needed at this point to get more fps behind the slugs. Accuracy seem to be doing ok. i can tag my 72 yard gong consistently and not seeing any spiraling thus far. so things are looking good.
Rain just caused a delay in sight in. I tried some teflon lube on the slugs, but it doesn't seem to be drying on them, but did give me a 5 FPS boost over dry (no lube) slugs. More to come on this venture.

Dan, how far have you been shooting the new slugs?
My interest in them is less wind deflection, but getting the velocity back up close to what the 27 grain pellets are shooting is going to be pretty vital to shooting to longer ranges.

i have gone out to my 100 yard gong in good wind(5-10 and gusting) and can ring it no issues. then just realized i was using my 106 yard mildot. but they were slightly high. when holding on 100 yard mildot. no issues. lol. got it sighted in, in the wind. so we'll see what it does once the wind dies off. shot count is cut in half as to be expected.
got to check the slugs just a little bit better. getting occasional fliers, plus i'm not bagging or benching it per say. resting on my deck railing and getting as stable as i can. I get a more accurate picture of what it will be like in the woods this way. hitting accurate on my 43 yard gong as well. just a touch of left and right off center due to wind i'm sure. Given my current wind conditions i wouldn't be shooting my pellets at all with any accuracy.
here is my sight in at center and then group at upper right at 50 yards. few fliers in the group shot due to gun jumping and not 100% stable.

Al called me and for some reason they were out of stock. I decided to go with the Bbt .253- 52 grain but won't get it for a couple of weeks. Al said they'll be running them the middle of next week which I told him would be fine.

well that is a bummer. but at least you got a heads up. Al is an awesome individual, and runs a good ship. i cant wait for the .250 bbt mold to come up.

I wondered about that because if it's the same mold, there were only two in stock...Dan and I got those.  Glad you were able to get an answer and more will be available.

Well, that group could be much worse.  I am really glad to see them grouping that well on a first attempt.  They may need a little more spin/speed.  I'll be able to turn them up over a 1000 if needed.  I don't have a specific goal for mine yet, just decent accuracy and power so far.

I pushed some of these through the Superior liner.  That liner is more loose than the STX liner, which I believe will be better.  The Superior leaves shallower groove markings in comparison.  Depending on how it goes with these, I'm thinking I may even need a .248 bushing.  They are tight pushing these by hand in these FX barrels.

i did a quick chamber test..just barely showing any rifling marks. i'd have to pull my barrel to do a push through, but given all the slug sizes i've tested. i know these are right where they should be diameter wise.
i'd like to push more speed behind them but still trying to figure out how to get it out of the gauntlet. Was gonna get a higher valve travel stop, but hajimoto is out of stock on them.
my performance/efficiency calculator program is telling me that i have hammer bounce. thats getting 24 shots from 3000 to 2200. but if i get 26 then it's possible i got hammer bounce. if i pull 28 shots then there is no hammer bounce.
So i'd say i'm not fully tuned in just yet. I'm only running a 22# spring with a slight preload, the cocked to the lock position, adjuster turned in till i cant get it in/out of the lock, then backed off 1 turn.
my program says:
1.08 FPE/CC @ 57.5 FPE Avg
Estimated Valve Close @ 11.1'' / 48%
tested the factory spring(30#) as well, but it gave my a heavy cocking and still got same speed.
transfer port through receiver to barrel is all .1875". valve outlet is only .194" in stock form. not sure what the throat size in the valve is. that would really help to know.

I have been replacing liners and checking the .30 cal cast pellets out again this evening, but the weather shut me down quickly.  I was able to drill a few ragged hole groups with all of the wind at 50 yards.  Those have me excited.  There were plenty of flyers starting out, but I cleaned the 700mm STX slug A liner real good before installing it.  They are beginning to cooperate some now.  I will try again when I can.

 I just cast up another 446 slugs. These cast so fast when things run smoothly. With that done and given the price per hundred. I think I just paid off this mold. So I've cast 886 slugs in two days. lol. Hmm... Fx hybrids $16 per 100. So that'd be 9 boxes. So yep, paid for as I've probably throw back more than 14 to redo. That was a quick payoff.

For me, it's more about having a say over everything involved in the end result of my own PCP experience, including the cost.  From compressor air, to gun selection, to tune of a select projectile for a range of task, etc.  I don't see myself totally devoid of commercial projectiles ever, but would welcome my own accurate projectile to add to the experience.  I wouldn't close the door on any accurate projectile.

With the next few days being very hot here I'm going to try getting in more casting.  I just got my 217-24-RF mold back on handles and I'm going to cast up a bunch more for my 22's that like the heavier pellets, my favorite from that mold are the 23 grain that I cast.  I've got everything warming up right now.

Absolutely agree keith. Accuracy is where it matters. I hate to miss a target. Granted the gauntlet probably isn't the best for slugs, but getting it shooting them Accurately is half the fun. Especially with a gun that was primarily made for pellets. Would love to get fx's liner system adapted to it, then I could really have some fun with it. Different twist rates and swaps for barrels way easier. Gotta be a way to do it and still be able to use the factory barrel.

I wanna say my .25 Marauder certainly improved with slugs (not good enough to use still) after I cut the choke off.  Pellets do better for sure.  Got a little more speed as well.  I was able to close the added gap within the shroud with additional baffles.

that's one fortunate side to the gauntlet. no choked barrel in the .25 cal. and 23.75 inches of barrel. thinking i may need to do another session with the JB Bore compound. that may help things even more.
