What is it like to hold?  The butt stock is interestingly shaped and long.  The three levels of metal, what is the balance like?

I have been collecting airguns since I retired 10 years ago.  Been quite a journey, finding that many of the real treasures in airgun collecting are European out of the experience of most of us in the US. I will be at three airgun shows this year.  I will have one table to sell and one table will be totally for display of these guns for others to appreciate and handle if they wish to.  Your in Pittsburgh, the PA airgun show is May 3 in Carlisle Pa a 3 hour drive.  Come see it and balance it for yourself.  Other shows will be Indiana airgun show in Lebanon, Indiana April 12, and the Midwest Airgun show in Grove City, Ohio June 7th.  Love sharing and talking about vintage airguns.  Hope to see you!!

The highest concentration of airgun enthusiasts you will probably ever see will be at the MidWest Airgun Show just south of Columbus.

How bout a 1940’s basket case? A friend gave it to me. Straight bolt handle Benjamin 312. Barrel has been re- soldered (poorly). Has a barrel dent just behind the front sight that actually impinges on the bore and swages the pellets on the way out.  Had to counter bore the barrel down a couple of inches to get past the dent.  Now it will group but Shoots 6” high at 25’ so may need to fix the solder job.  Just replaced the leather piston seal with synthetic and it pumps great.  Should be an interesting project.  Not nearly as nice as the guns on the previous post but hopefully a shooter with work.

I felt like shooting the 140 /1400 today.

I’ve been psyching myself up to attempt a re-seal on a very pretty Crosman 760 self cocker.  I decided to do an alcohol flush before tearing into the gun although I didn’t think it had much hope of curing the problem.  Well Hallelujah!  It worked!  The gun is now pumping and holding air.  Shoots pretty good too!  I shot some H&N FTT through it because that’s what was handy.  Accuracy was about what I expected and better than I remembered.  Accuracy with .Crosman copperhead BB’s was acceptable at ten yards.  This is the gun I acquired a year or so ago that still has two of the factory stickers in place.  I’m glad I don’t have to take the gun apart because that would damage one of the stickers.

I also shot my slim line 1400 today with notable results.  The carpenter bees are bad right now and they are going to be worse.  I put three to five pumps in the gun and pour a goodly measure of dry white rice or bird seed down the muzzle.  At three to five feet the rice is lethal but the pattern opens up quickly.  Bird seed is much easier to pour down the muzzle and it patterns better than rice but it’s lethality is suspect.  Three times today I had bees crawl or fly away after soaking up a charge of bird seed.  Hit em with the rice and they are going down!
I sat on mom’s gazebo which is plagued with them right now and downed eight within a half an hour.

Yikes, not doing things the easy way, the efficient way or the not as much fun way describes a lot of my life.

Shot my Beeman 700 (Diana 5G) with a shoulder stock I worked up.  Much easier to shoot with the stock but is really hold sensitive.  Has a vortex crossfire red dot mounted on a weaver base.  Used the sight screws to attach the base.  Had to use red Loctite to secure the screws and keep them from shooting loose.

Got a power washer? A professional house painter told me that's how they get rid of YJ nests. But he didn't say whether he wore a protective suit and head gear while doing that. I've had an angry YJ that I sprayed with Raid Black but not directly enough actually circle around and try to sting me from the back. I was watching him so he didn't succeed. 😖
