That is pretty small. The standard Williams peep sight is .093", and the smaller target aperture they sell is .05". I used to like the smaller diameter, but now I prefer something in between (67 year old eyes). I drilled out some of the smaller ones to .062 (1/16") and am pretty happy with it. I may at some time try .078" (5/64") as well.Down the road as my eyes get worse (assuming I last long enough for that to happen) I'll probably end up removing the aperture entirely (ghost sight) and glue a golf ball to the front sight.
some back-yard plinking with my new spring (20 joule) to test the power and prepare for adjusting the sightatb Jochen
I've been shooting my Crosman 140/00 today.Recently I received a basket case 1975 1400, and instead of putting in all the major work that the gun needed I decided to swap the barrel onto my 1965 140 because I'd rather have a bolt handle instead of a sliding cover.

I'm a lefty and if I carry the rifle the way I want to hunting with the bolt side toward my body I tend to inadvertently open the bolt by rubbing the gun against my clothing. I've missed more than one squirrel and got a puff of air in my face when I did this. The sliding cover is pretty much ambidextrous and doesn't suffer from this problem. If you are a righty or you're just plinking it doesn't matter.
S&W 79G. Resealed and holding pressure. Polished the trigger and hammer a little, cut 2 and a half coils off the trigger spring. A much more pleasant shooter now. Too bad there's no easy way to mount an optic.

I am biased toward Sheridans , as you can imagine by my username . I have a stable full of Sheridans , but only one S & W to compare to. The Sheridans can be pumped up to 8 times & average about 650 fps . It takes about 11 pumps with the S & W for the same power & at 15 pumps , it is a tad over 700 fps. S & W feels good in your hands, much like an older .22rimfire . Shoots well but not as accurate as Sheridans, but will get the job done. I always wanted to try an S & W & waited quite a while for a nice one to come along. Many are scratched, chipped , & rough. Mine is very nice with one small dimple in the wood that could probably be ironed out. I have the original owner’s manual with it.
