Yong Heng compressor ... I just bought 1 ...

I just bought my brother one of these yong hengs today , when I told him about paying 90 bucks for Nuvair 751  gallon shipped , I don't think he liked the  90 bucks price tag ...    after I explained things in detail he was a bit more  good with it knowing his compressor would diesel its self to death with out the proper oil ....

I haven't heard or observed any dieseling with what I'm using.. Royal Purple synfilm recip 100. Is there a silent non observable way I can determine if mine is doing it? Certainly don't want to kill my compressor..

If you think about it Nuvair 751  gallon price ends up being 22.50 per quart ... why on earth would you use a none dive compressor oil NOT designed for this application like royal purple 100 /rated oils which has been proven by our GTA members on this thread - to diesel in the yong heng , just go back and read threw this thread several have been doing tear downs checking for dieseling ,and found just that from running none dive compressor oil , then after changing the oil to the correct dive compressor oil and checking  it after some run time showed no dieseling ,and the compressor's ran better sounded better while running ....  The way I look at it is I have enough oil  to last me for a while so I don't have to worry about ordering it for a long time , and I have the correct rated oil for the application to give the best results ....  plus these compressors are cheap ! so we should be able to afford the correct oil ?   $330 -350  compressor with oil ?  from what I just bought for my brother ....

OK.. I had mine torn down a few weeks ago because of a blown gasket...Didn't have any problems inside i could find at all after many many fills.. . Guess I'll keep using it since I'm not experiencing any issues..

According to this ebay seller, this is the oil that Yong Heng is now recommending for their compressors in their owner's manual. I don't see a problem with the Nuvair 751 as an alternative. This ebay one might appeal to a number of people on a tight budgit though.

That's enough for me.. Ester it is.. Weather or not I had damage or very much carbon.. It would likely in time as the compressor wears..

GTA member Thane after after switching to the better dive compressor oil off page 12 on this thread ....

Thane : .....  After switching to ester based High Pressure oil I have found less carbon deposits in the second stage, also less stuttering which was rare and now not happening at all.

I suspect many of the first stage piston face collapsing may be a result of dieseling in the second stage, hammering the rod into the unreinforced piston.

Yong Heng have more seals than the vevor single seal and may be less prone to oil making it's way into the second stage. Still plenty of Yong Heng first stage piston failures, and just because it hasn't happened yet is little cause for recommending oil for purposes clearly not specified by manufacturer.

Better to pay 90 bucks for the right oil , than have the compressor go bad when you need it ... its one of those pay now or pay around 3 times as much later for a new compressor + have to buy  the 90 buck oil ....  ....     it's just like I used to tell the other jet ski racers that I built race motors for , run amsoil dominator 32-1 or you will be seeing me a lot sooner for rebuild than you want to ...

here we go !  they finally figured it out ! ... yong heng is now recommending a higher quality mobile 1 rarus 827 synthetic none mineral based oil ... to cure the detonation problems they were having , to bad they didnt do the research a few years back , they could of saved their customers a lot of problems ....

Ok so just to clear it up for me.  Is there a better or best in this choice, or would either be equivalent? In other words, is Mobil rarus 827 better than Nuvair 751, are they equal, should Nuvair 751 NOT be used?

I’m getting ready to use up the last of my Royal Purple and plan on changing it out again when I get the quart of Nuvair 751 that I just ordered.

Here's some cross references. I think there is probably a bit of range of products that are beyond what is required. When I was looking into it I got Chemlube 751 from BargainMarge. Chemlube 501 is a lighter version and is equivalent of Mobil Rarus 827. Rarus 829 is equivalent to Chemlube 751. I thought there was some discussion about the relative viscosities that referenced what some other much more expensive compressor manufacturers recommend but I can't find it now.
