Anyone else shoot in the dark?

Got a good 50 yards in my yard with lights in my tree to light up targets.

I’m sitting towards the front of my property. Nice and quiet out here.

I do upon occasion.  I have floodlights out back and have been known to spin the spinner in the summer.

Talk to me in 6 months and chances are I'll have NV or similar for my Leshiy.

Yes I do. I have my targets inside a 3/4" plywood box that's 8 ft wide x 4 ft high X 4 ft deep with a 3 inch thick piece of wood in back. I've got two clamp lamps clamped to the inside to light the targets and 25 yards to my bench a desk boom lamp with a red bulb to keep it dim on the shooting end of the range. Works great.

I do similar but I use one of those battery powered LED rechargeable Craftsman lights that I got from Lowes. Works great. I have another fully charged in case my enthusiasm exceeds the battery's

I got something similar to this, that I'll use to shine right on the target. Works great!

I do using a gun mounted light or a light at the target. This time of year there would no shooting at all during the work week otherwise.

Same here, Luis. Mon-Fri I typically don't get home until close to 6pm.

Been about 3 years...cheap night vison (Gen. I) hasn't crapped out (yet)....maybe becasue I've kept it off of anything recoiling....maybe becasue I've kept it stored in the same climate I live in (inside the house)...maybe luck.

But it is a one-trick-pony. Very useful in the real dark...not useful in the light.

The only time I do nights is with my 1377 pumper on roosting sparrows. I hold a tac light beside the barrel. That gun is deadly at 5 to 15 yards.

Then there is the occasional raccoon I'll take with my 22 short. It has a mounted light. Model 25 Marlin tack driver.

When there is snow on the ground I can see pretty well through my UTG scope with lit reticle. I'll shoot 25 yards out the back door at night, good for pesting wabbits.

I do.  I run an extension cord and a halogen work light out to illuminate the targets.  I can sit under my carport to stay dry when it’s raining.  I’ll also sit on a heating pad and have a dish heater pointed at me to help kill the chill.  I’ll usually shoot my Streamline on low power at cardboard to keep the sound down.  It’s very peaceful and relaxing when it’s calm outside.

Oh you bet I shoot in the dark!  I'm up at 4 am (an old Army habit to make Formation) every morning!  No light! So I have a powerful flashlight that I poise on top of a standing bookshelf above my head out the French Doors to the steel plates at 30 yards (if I shoot from INSIDE the house).

 I do have color changing LED light on my 30 yard range, it has UV effects on the shoot n see targets, makes it kind of like cosmic bowling 
 Also have the NV scope and IR lamp

I use a flashlight on a tripod for this purpose all the time.  The nice thing about night time is there’s often little to no wind.
 
With the light source in line, it lights up the inside of the pellet’s skirt and you can follow the trajectory through the scope.  That can be useful to spot potential spiraling.

Interesting to read about everyone’s night time shooting.

My wife thinks I’m crazy to be out there in the dark , but it’s really the only time for me to get trigger time in.

My daughter who is almost 1 year old is the main priority through out the day until she goes to bed around 8pm.

To me shooting is the best way to wind down after a long busy day. Popping a few bottle caps and cans is very relaxing. Also love when I can pop a dove or 2. My dobies love them.

Jacob, this might be of interest to you. Trenier has a set of 30mm/dovetail rings with picatinny rails on the top half for $3.99! I bought a set and they look good.  Mount a flashlight to that and no need for lights at the target, that's how I do it.

Several times.
In the Central Highlands of South Vietnam.
Of, course, the 5.56mm ammo magazines were loaded with tracers every three rounds..

LOL. That’s hilarious. I could try something like that, but my groups would probably be 10 inches ctc at 25 yards with her yanking my hair and scratching my neck. Lol.
